“Great afternoon tea”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2014

This has to be my favourite tea rooms, every time were in the area I always make a point of going, scones are delicious , I have tried the lunch and breakfast which are good too, staff always friendly.
Would highly recommend the cream teas.
Look forward to returning very soon.

This was our favorite tea room for this trip. Cozy as can been, complete with an old stone fireplace and old maps on the wall. The baked goods were homemade and the service good. Right across the street from the old Market Hall. We would gladly return

little disappointing for our visit for lunch. menu is pretty limited and not very inspiring. we visited another tea room on the same day, and bantam just needs to bring it self up to date a bit. Dreary and drab inside with no atmosphere, was cold in there as well. the food was actually ok

During a sightseeing trip to Chipping Campden we stopped at the Bantam Tea Rooms for some refreshments. The interior can be described as either dated or quaint depending on your perspective.

There was a board with the daily specials listed from which I ordered the Tomato and Basil soup whilst Mrs FB2000 ordered a piece of the chocolate cake. We also ordered two teas. The soup was very hot and served with two large doorstep type slices of bread with plenty of butter. Both this and the chocolate cake were very good. There was enough water for at least 3 cups of tea too.

On the negative side, the service was very ordinary. Even though the tea rooms were not busy, there was no follow-up for extras and getting the bill took some effort. It wasn’t exactly proactive. Our table was also a bit sticky so presumably it hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly.

There was free Wifi though.

The cakes in the window looked so lovely particularly the meringues so we decided to visit for morning coffee on Saturday. What a disappointment - the inside was really tired and dreary, the table was sticky and dirty. The coffee came in tea cups and was luke warm, the meringues were disgusting - dry and sickly sweet, the tea cake was under toasted and didn't taste of anything and the cheese scones you couldn't tell what they were. Not cheap and frankly would not go again or recommend it at all.
PS To Trip Advisor - not sure why there is a picture of a bed as I don't they are anything other than a tea room.

We were tempted in by the cakes in the window but was disapointed by the interior. We chose a table that had been cleared but had to wait for it to be 'wiped' with just a cloth. The waitreses face looked as miserable as the table setting. The cakes were ok but pricey and the coffee came in tea cups. The breakfasts on the next table did look a healthy helping but the tea room did smell like a cafe. Shame really as it is in an interesting building. The guy at the till must have resented working on a Sunday by his demeanour.

The Bantam Tea Rooms make the BEST chocolate cake......on every visit to the Cotswolds we always make a point of visiting Chipping Camden just so I can get a piece of the delicious chocolate cake. I am a chocolate cake connoisseur and I haven't tasted many other cakes that compare : ) The other baked products are also very good as my husband always enjoys a slice of the carrot cake. A must visit if you are passing through or visiting Chipping Camden.
