We just had a fantastic meal at the Seagrave on Saturday night. It was a nice, intimate space. I had a salad of heirloom tomatoes with goat cheese and basil which was simple and satisfying. Then, I had their seabream with potatoes, asparagus, and caviar and it was delicious. The seabream was perfectly cooked with a flaky skin and tender, moist meat. It came with delicious potatoes and asparagus that had a lot of natural flavour. The portions were perfect for someone who wanted a 3 course meal without feeling like you had to be rolled out of the restaurant. Our bottle of malbec was lovely and only 23 pounds! Finally, when I sheepishly asked if they had any gluten free bread for my plate of cheese, they offered me the choice of gluten free bread or crackers! Will definitely come again the next time I am in Chipping Campden.

We booked on line, having seen the place was recommended by Sawdays, which is is usually a reliable site. On arrival it appeared to be just what we were looking for to have lunch with Grandpa - lots of clipped box, nice outdoor seating etc. Inside there were cosy rooms, a nice assortment of furniture, tasteful decor etc. The menu was short but looked interesting. I ordered duck egg with asparagus and black pudding followed by pollock with herb crust. My wife had slow cooked salmon with beetroot and then wood pigeon, Grandpa had duck egg then pigeon. Drinks were served quickly (one pint of Guinness, one of local ale and an elderflower presse). The disappointment when the starters finally arrived (after about 20 mins) was considerable. Very small portions, which would have been fine had the price not been so exorbitant (nearly £100 for 3 of us). My duck egg was pleasantly soft, but with one small spear of asparagus and a sprinkle of black pudding crumbs. The salmon was a tiny piece (no bigger than a dessert spoon) with one small baby beetroot. Main courses took over 30 minutes to arrive after we had finished our starters (which didn't take too long) and were an equal disappointment. The pollock was nicely cooked although the herb crumb had little flavour and the portion was tiny. The pigeon, was very tough for both. We couldn't bear the thought of puddings at the price so settled for coffee, which wasn't much cheaper. Not great and will not be going back.

Visited this restaurant for a second time as hoped the new owners had improved matters. We found the very limited menu disappointing ( 4 starters and 4 mains - 2 of which were fish!!) and my husband had to send his main of woodpigeon back as it was so tough that he couldn't cut it. When we asked for the bill, they had deducted the cost of all our food, which was very generous, but it would have been better if somebody from management had come and apologised. Sadly, I don't think we will return.

Small menu, but good range. Food was beautifully presented. Tasted as good as it looked. Staff friendly and helpful. Good range of drinks, especially the lager (Curious). lovely meal for a special occasion.

From outside this venue looked welcoming. However our opinion was changed upon entering. The bar and restaurant were extremely cold, to such an extent that we asked to have the fire lit and sat with our jackets wrapped around us.
The menu itself was very disappointing, with a choice of 4 starters, 4 mains and 3 puddings. No vegetarian choice was available. Having chosen our mains we were not given any option over how the beef would be cooked and was not told that the meals were not served with any potatoes or veg; nothing was mentioned on the menu. We then ordered potatoes to be told our only option was new.
When the meals arrived the beek was in starter-sized portions - very disappointing considering the price of £19. Although well cooked, overall the food was small and very overpriced.
The deserts followed the same path as the mains; small and expensive. The cheese platter had a good variety of local cheeses, although no one seemed to know what they were.
Such a shame but given that the food was not great and extremely overpriced and the venue cold, we and our friends will certainly not be returning. We left around 10.15pm and got the impression the staff were waiting for us to leave.
Having visited the Cotwolds a couple of times over the past year, there are fantastic restaurants and pubs where you'll be warm and get great food, unfortunately this isn't one of them.
