“Traditional Cotswold pub with good locally sourced food”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

This 14C charming Cotswold pub is located off the main high street and 200 yards from St James's Church. The bar area is quite dark and cosy with open fires and stone floors. They have a separate dining area to the left of the bar but we prefer the bar area as we like the atmosphere. (it has been nicely refurbished since the current photo on Trip Advisor). We arrived just before 1 o'clock on a Sunday and it was just starting to get busy. The menu had an excellent selection of seasonal and vegetarian dishes and wines by the glass. I ordered the Sundried tomato and spinach risotto which was delicious and I was tempted by the Banana and walnut sponge pudding. Service was good and prices reasonable. Altogether an authentic dog friendly Cotswold pub with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Better to book a table before 1.30pm as when they get really busy service is inclined to be slow and occasionally dishes are off the menu.

“Excellent”
Reviewed 4 October 2013

Went on the 4th of Oct, as a couple. Didn't book but turned up at 6pm, and was told food not served till 6.30. We were given a table and enjoyed drinks until the waitress came at 6.30.
I had the "mr lashfords" pork and leek sausages, on a bed of mash and home made ratatouille. Delicious ! My partner had home made checked and leek pie, mash and pies. Again extremely delicious.
We were in the pub till about 7.30, so the atmosphere was just starting to warm up, with it being a Friday.

Very good food, polite and friendly staff. Top night :)

“Lovely friendly pub”

As part of a group of friends visiting Chipping Camden for a weekend, I found this pub very welcoming. The food was very good both sandwiches for lunch and evening meals. The staff were very friendly and looked after us really well.

“great location lovely lunch”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

Stopped for lunch purely by chance and we were both glad we did! Only ate a very agreeable sandwich but watched as the staff brought out cooked lunches for other diners which looked great and judging by the comments tasted good.We drank a couple of cask beers which were well kept and was good ale, which is praise indeed from northern drinkers! To be highly recommended, staff are great too, friendly and professional, too good to miss.
