Cotswold House Hotel & Spa
Certificate of Excellence

Great location to explore the Cotswold's. This is a beautifully renovated property that provides great service and amenities, while enjoying the Cotswold's. While you go back in time, seeing the lovely area, you have all the modernity you might want at this hotel. We especially enjoyed the staff, they could not have been more helpful, fun and well informed. While certainly not inexpensive, the price we paid included breakfast, which was expensive everywhere
in England and it's not easy to find a place to have breakfast in small towns. All in all our 3 nights at the Cotswold House was great.

My husband and I wanted a quiet getaway on our own to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary, our room was upgraded to a suite and what can I say, wow, I didn't want to leave! The staff were exceptional, the receptionist was particularly pleasant and helpful. We ate in Hick's which was lovely and relaxed with a good atmosphere, although our table was next to a function room exit I think as people kept walking through which was rather annoying! Our room was faultless, the weather was good so we enjoyed the stroll around the gardens to get to it but in bad weather I would imagine this would be a drag. We had a lovely relaxing lounge area and the bedroom was gorgeous with vaulted ceiling and beautiful lights and the bathroom, WOW we had a gorgeous egg shaped bath large enough for two with great mood lighting.

Highly recommeded for a romantic getaway, it is so relaxing and peaceful and the village of Chipping Campden is gorgeous, I can't wait to return!!

We wanted a hotel based in the centre of a picture postcard cotswold village. This hotel was perfect for that .Staff were very helpful and friendly. The 2 restaurants were exceptoinal and the food in Julianna's was some of the best I have had and for what we got, very well priced. However it was such a shame that there was no lift in the hotel My mother is having some difficulty with stairs and I would expect a hotel of this price range to be able to put in at least a stair lift some where there is more than one stair case and no bedrooms on the ground floor. This location and price will apeal to the older traveler and therefor should accomodate them and their possible needs. Hotel I did feel expensive and needs to add its spa to keep up its appeal.

Mobile phone signal is not great in village

We really liked this hotel, rooms are beautiful, spacious and clean. We were given complimentary upgrade to cottage rooms which was a nice touch. Breakfast was superb brought to our room in the morning. Food in the brassiere was also very good. Weather did not permit us to spend more time in the garden, which also looked beautiful. I’m not giving it 5 stars because they lack decent communal areas (bar area is tiny) and additional facilities like pool/spa. Published rate for cottage room is £450 a night, which sounds a bit steep and I’m not sure I’d paid that much for it if we didn’t get complimentary upgrade. All in all very enjoybale stay. If they intend to continue charging these rates then they should improve on launge/bar area and provide additional facilities for guests, i.e. pool.

Perfect location in one of the most charming cotswold villages
and not overrun with too many tourists! Our room at the front of the hotel (Dlx King) although on the small side was incredibly well thought out and the bathroom very spacious and luxurious with quality fittings and good design. For the second night we moved to a garden suite at the rear of the property which offered a real sense of privacy and tranquility. The suite had a small sitting room, smallish bedroom which lacked natural light and a huge bathroom with a freestanding marble bath. Friends had a Dlx King at the rear of the property which has wonderful views over the gardens. Room was small with quite a plain bathroom although I think the views compensated. Food was slightly disappointing as I personally found the menu over elaborate and delivery on the plate was not great. One of the best things about this hotel is the staff who are
professional, accommodating, patient and sincere in their approach. I like the hotel very much and would not hesitate to return, especially when the spa opens later this year.

We had booked a night in the hotel on the night following our wedding the previous day. We were very much looking forward to a much-needed relaxing night’s stay at the hotel but unfortunately it didn’t quite live up to our expectations.

On arriving in Room 5, and shutting the door behind us, the lock on the door broke away from the wood. On reporting this to one of the staff, nothing was done to repair the door but instead we were told not to worry about it whilst absent from the room during dinner as generally there are always staff around at this time. So we had to leave the room unlocked and unattended during dinner, rather nervous at the thought of some expensive wedding gifts being left an easy target to any passer-by,

Then the heat of the bedroom. The room was so eternally hot that a much-need good night’s sleep was deemed impossible. I had to turn off not only the bathroom towel-rail but also the radiator in the corridor – to little effect. Windows had to be opened – these unfortunately looked out on the main high street and meant a very early morning awakening to the sound of what sounded like the local refuse collection and an incredibly yappy dog. According to the receptionist, whilst air-conditioning had been installed on the rear of the property, the front of the hotel had yet to see this introduction.

On another note, I must say that we had a most impressive dinner on that night at the hotel – the food and service were both impeccable.

Stayed here for 2 nights over the week-end. Chipping Campden is great and our visit was perfectly set up by the Cotswold House hotel.
The location is great, the facilities first class and the service was very good. A couple of minor issues were speedily dealt with.

Lots of space in our room at the front of the hotel. Free mini bar (non-alcoholic), choice of pillows, turn down service, power shower, robes, real coffee and a filter machine were all good things. The large bed was the most comfortable I have slept in in an hotel.

We ate in the brasserie. The service wasn't speedy but the food was really good and I didn't think the pricing was too bad.

Dining room breakfast was excellent on both mornings.

The room rates are eye-wateringly expensive but seem par for the course locally. As the quality was so good, I felt I had received fair value.
