Reviewed 5 January 2012

we booked this hotel for new yers eve break, we arrived around 2.30pm and got a lovely reception. at 3.00 pm we had afternoon tea which was very good. at 7.15pm we went down for new years eve festivities, the whole evening was wonderful, good food, good band and wonderful company. the hotel and staff where perfect and we will certainly return

Room Tip: we had room 204 which overlooked the town square which was perfect.

This was our second visit to The Kings Hotel - which is rare for us so is a strong recommendation in itself. We stayed for 2 nights with breakfast, dinner on one night, a pre dinner drink and afternoon team for £100 each (although we did upgrade to a King room for an extra £40pp) - the offer was through hotelshopuk.com, so maybe worth checking out for deals. The hotel itself is lovely, small enough to feel cosy, but big enough for a great bar and dinning area. The bar is a great place for an afternoon or pre dinner drink - the other bars nearby are quite pubby or restauranty. The dinning room is also very nice and has great food, including the breakfast included in our stay. Although we upgraded to a King room, this wasn't as nice as our previous King room, and having sneaked into a couple of others, there are better ones - apologies for not taking note of the room numbers, but I think the ones overlooking the gardens are better than the ones overlooking the front. The rooms have been done up quite nicely but the bathrooms could be better, our first stay didn't have a shower, a small complaint but worth asking if you'd prefer a big shower etc. Overall a great place to stay with great food at a very reasonable price.

My fiancee and I stayed at the Kings hotel for two nights at the start of November. We got a great offer, two nights accomodation, breakfast, 3 course dinner, afternoon tea and pre dinner drinks - all for £100 each.

The hotel is in a delighful little village - Chipping Campden. On arrival at the hotel we were delighted to find we had been upgraded to the suite, this is situated in the cottage which is separate from the main hotel! Wow the room was amazing, huge bed, lovely exposed beams, a massive bath tub in the bedroom and a walk in shower.

The 3 course dinner was lovely, good choice and well presented. Staff were all friendly. The hotel is decorated in a contempory style but retains it's old charm. There are several nice pubs in the village which are worth a visit. The hotel bar is quite expensive but as are all the hotel bars in the village.

Would stay here again and recommend to anyone who wants a quiet relaxing break.

Room Tip: Stay midweek for the best chance of getting an upgrade. Rooms in the cottage are nice.

I've just been to lunch at The Kings - the food was the best I've had in any restaurant for a long time, and that's saying something given that the pricing was really reasonable. You would pay £40-50 per head for this menu in London: it's £22 here.

The flavours were excellent, presentation was beautiful - I wish I'd taken photos but not really the thing to do at a business lunch. The chef is to be commended, especially given that the restaurant was extremely busy with a party of 45 in for some kind of a ladies' convention. We were just a table of 2 but didn't feel neglected.

I haven't been to lunch at the King's for a little while and it's fair to say that it has improved in that time. Will be back soon.

This really is a lovely little hotel in a delightful location. The accommodation is great and food excellent. But the icing on the cake is the high quality of service offered by all the staff from the time of arrival until departure. Congratulations and well done!!

Restaurant review: good choice of daily specials - we particularly enjoyed salmon on beetroot risotto. Very helpful waiter.
Definitely worth a look. Best to book as it fills very early at weekends
