Sue's cottage cannot be more perfect for a family. We have just returned from a 7 nights stay during Easter. Despite the poor weather with lots of rains, we have enjoyed our stay there by mixing with some outdoor visits (Warwick castle, Shakespeare's place, Mary Arden's farm, Anne Heathway's cottages) and indoor fun (local leisure center swimming, Oxford university's natural history museum).
The kitchen is so well equipped with almost everything you need to cook up a family meal after a long day. We were greeted by a pack of nice biscuits, a bag of crisp and a small pint of milk in the fridge. Sue has provided some basic dry ingredients such as tea bags, coffee, olive oil, stock cubes, tin soups, foils, cling film etc. Although we used the stuff brought ourselves mostly, it is the thoughts count! We even used the washing machine and dryer once for our wet and muddy cloth unexpectedly (yes, with the washing liquids and conditioner provided!).
In the lounge, there is a TV with freeview channels which gave our some evening entertainment together with the internet access. The broadband signals were good in general with few times disruptions but were quickly sorted by the simple switch off and switch on.
The bed and the linens are of the good quality that you can get a nice night rest. The mattress is with good springs and did not sink when you lied down. I usually travel with my own pillow but on this occasion, I found no need to use my own at all.
The bathroom is with restricted headroom as advertised. It is a bath with shower head attached on the bath side. Although no full height shower available, it is not a problem for us and our children enjoyed the hot bath. Some people mentioned the pump noise in the night can be disturbing but we found out that if we didn't turn on the hot water, it was generally pretty quiet and caused no noise for our children's sleep in the adjacent twin bedroom.
All in all it has been great for our family and would thoroughly recommend it to friends.
We walked to nearby Chipping Campden, to Hidcote Gardens and the village pub.
The cottage was well equipped, comfortable and clean with all the usual amenities including WiFi. The sun shone into the garden towards evening and we were able to enjoy our evening meal outside.
The owner was friendly and helpful during our stay.
location could not have been more beautiful if you love those picture postcard cotswold villages. A fantastic award winning pub is just a short stroll down the road. We enjoyed listening to the Church bells on Sunday morning and two of us attended Bell practice, where we met some some lovely friendly people who "showed us the ropes" so to speak. An ideal location for touring the Cotswolds, our cottage was well equipped, comfortable and very pretty and if the weather turns cooler, there is the opportunity to light an open fire. The plumbing is a little noisy but we made sure not to use the loo in the middle of the night...it did not spoil our stay however. We loved it and would come back again in a heartbeat.
We absolutely loved this cosy cottage and found it the perfect base for our stay in the Cotswolds. Everything was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was very well equipped. The village was lovely and the local pub was a real plus with great food and a gorgeous beer garden. We would definitely return.
It's exactly what I imagined. From the first moment you open the wrought iron gate, to the front door, you feel as though you have stepped back in time. As soon as you open the front door you get a sense of yester year. Such a cute little cottage. All so tidy and clean. There was a large inglenook (fire place) which we didn't use as the weather was kind to us. The kitchen was a joy to cook in as well as the lounge was comfortable. We were lucky to be short people as you had to duck your head to go upstairs. This made it alot of fun. Our bed was cosy and comfy. Such a joy to wake up in the morning and see the village below. The cottage is very well situated, only a 6 minute drive to Chipping Camden to buy your groceries. It's a lovely quiet village with a pub only. Our weeks stay was thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you Sue for allowing us to enjoy this gorgeous home.
You will not want to leave this quaint yet mostly modern cottage. Close to the northern parts of the Cotswold, although nothing is really far away in the area. We enjoyed coming home at night after a busy day with take away food and just relax and enjoy the surroundings.
It was nice having the extra beds in the 2nd bedroom. Be careful of the stairs and low ceilings but that was part of the charm. The bath was a bit hard to get in and out but we are in our 60's and maybe not as agile as we used to be.
Sue was wonderful and even found my prescription glasses and mailed them to me. I would love to go back and stay a month.
