“Great location, friendly warm welcome”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

We stayed at Featherdown Farm for a long weekend at the end of April. We had a great welcome from the farmer and the tent was superb. First job was to put all our belongings in a wheelbarrow and take them up to the tent which was fun. We made up our beds and got the stove going. All that we needed was available in the barn along with a great selection of items in the honesty shop. It's great that the cars aren't allowed in the field with the tents as you can leave the children to run wild without the danger of them being near vehicles. At 8.30 each morning the kids got to feed the orphaned lambs by bottle which was superb. On the Saturday we all visited Hidcote Manor Gardens - entry is free if you stay on the farm and it was lovely - one of the most amazing gardens I've ever visited. In the early evening Farmer John lit the pizza oven at the end of the field and we cooked our own pizza. It's so nice just to unplug from the internet and enjoy the great outdoors. We actually decided to return home a day early - not down to the farm but the weather wasn't very forgiving while we were there. I can imagine that if the weather was sunny, it would be an entirely different experience and you'd be able to sit outside on the deckchairs and use the BBQ. All in all a great experience, especially for the kids :)

My husband and I took our 3 and 5 year old for a wonderful weekend to Hidcote Manor Farm and I would highly recommend this location to others. We were blessed with fantastic weather which helped - as did the stunning setting, great accommodation, warm welcome by the farmer John and a wonderful farm "experience" for us city dwellers.

The children loved playing in the woods, walking down to the chicken coop to collect fresh eggs for breakfast and playing in the tiny stream near the campsite. Getting to meet and see the animals (sheep, ducks, chickens and horses) was great for them and it was a fun to watch the sheepdogs working to round up the sheep as we sat out and ate breakfast.

Free access to the beautifully maintained National Trust Gardens at Hidecote Manor next door was a lovely bonus too.
