“Reasonable hotel, comfy beds, just a few small issues with the restaurant and bar service...”

We stayed at the hotel on the weekend of 30th June. The fine dining restaurant was excellent, we had the tasting menu with the wine tour. It was a shame the food arrived before the wine on two occasions however the sommelier was very apologetic. Food was excellent.

The room was comfy, nice bed, high ceiling, flat screen TV. Windows could not be opened as far as I could tell but there was air conditioning (which dripped water at the start be seemed to correct itself later). The bathroom was as expected although the plug did not work.

Breakfast was a little disappointing. Toast was cold, but quickly rectified. It then took 50 minutes to be served an English breakfast, which also had a missing ingredient which was listed on the menu, black pudding!. On the second day, I asked for scrambled egg and salmon but they had run out of salmon (surely this is easy to purchase and keep stock). I ordered poached eggs instead which were unfortunately over-cooked. I sent them back and they were replaced (so relatively happy). The orange juice / apple juice etc. could do with being fresh rather than concentrate but just a minor detail.

I would stay here again as the location is ideal and the quality of sleep is very good however I may perhaps eat elsewhere in the evening and for breakfast.

Stayed for a weekend and enjoyed this hotel. The highlight has to be the comfiest beds I have slept in! The girls at reception were very helpful too. The soundproofing isnt the best so would recommend ear plugs for light sleepers but this wouldnt stop from staying here again

Booked in here for two nights, normally stay at the Mint (now Doubletree by Hilton) when in Manchester although as full chose Abode. It is in an old red brick building. I had a standard room, which was huge, high ceilings, with aircon, full bath, free wifi. The bed was enormous, more like an emperor size then anything else and possibly the most comfortable bed ever.

Has a reasonable hotel restaurant and Michael Caines @ Abode is excellent although i did not eat there on this occasion.

Will definitely stay here again.

Daniel caines' restaurant is well worth a visit. One of the best meals I've had in a long time. The restaurant was the highlight of the stay. Whilst the hotel was perfectly decent, the restaurant was outstanding.

Well decorated, polite staff, wasn't full of rowdy hen and stag parties like the rest of Manchester that weekend, The room was very small but well presented, the toiletries provided were top class grapefruit soap and shower gel.

Room Tip: The more you pay, the bigger the room your likely to get.

Stayed here for two nights recently and had an excellent bed breakfast and evening meal deal for £99 per night - must be the best value in Manchester. The building is old and interesting and the rooms, although not ultra luxurious are clean and well appointed. We thought the quality of the food was excellent. When we got home we realised we had left our phone charger in the room. A quick phone call to the hotel and it was dispatched to us first class post that same day. You can't get better service than that!
Note to hotel : it would have been nice to have had some information available about the history of the building.
