“Amazing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2013 via mobile

The hotel is amazing and to staff are friendly. The bed was absolutely huge! I could barely see my partner at the other end! Was worried I'd hear a lot of noise from outside but the room was complete sound proof. The bathroom was a little 'meh' but still good. The bath was small and nothing special and same goes for the shower.

We has breakfast which was amazing! I'd recommend anyone stay here! Not a single fault.

Came back late from a show to enjoy a perfectly cooked crisp and moist Fish and Chip supper. Slept undisturbed in a spacious warm bedroom with large windows looking down along Piccadilly.
All the staff were friendly and helpful. This former Victorian cotton merchant's warehouse, still with its magnificent tiled and mahogany central staircase, has morphed into a sophisticated twenty-first century boutique hotel. Don't be put off by the daft name - "ABode, Sweet ABode": that's what I say !

We booked Abode as we were meeting friends in town and we didn't want the hassle of getting taxis. The location is brilliant - 5 minutes from the station and we received a very warm welcome from the very helpful receptionist. We were offered the chance to upgrade for a small fee and the room was great. They have used the features of the old building well and I think it is quieter than many modern thin walled hotels! We were at the side which I suspect is also quieter generally. We were meeting friends in The Northern Quarter so didn't eat or drink in the hotel but we enjoyed our stay so much that we intend to go back and spend the evening there with a meal and drinks. Finally we must mention the brilliant bed - so comfy with great sheets and pillows - a great night's sleep!

We stayed at this hotel for one night on a Sunday. I rang the hotel on the way to ask about car parking, and was given helpful and accurate information. The hotel is very near the station and even though on the main road, the rooms were not noisy. Check in was easy and the reception staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The room was bright and clean. We added breakfast on to our booking at reception (cheaper than paying on the morning). Breakfast was in the brasserie and was of very good quality, again with excellent service. We travel to Manchester regularly and would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in one of the 'Fabulous on Fifth' suites. Whilst the room was huge with a large living area, the finish was only top notch if you squinted. DIY standard of paint finishes, floor fitting, bathroom installation, etc. Although recently refurbished it looked a little tired already. The bed is uncomfortable if you don't sleep on your back. Too soft, found yourself rolling into the middle.
Bathroom has nice fittings - a large rain shower and a very big bath that takes about 20 minutes to fill. Considering the price of the room, and the living area, the choices on the TV were poor. Not many channels, almost uniquely terrestrial. Picture quality fuzzy. Cheap TV (although BOSE DVD player which was wasted).
Parking is easy and although not on site, nearest secure car park is Piccadilly Place and only a short walk. The lack of spa or pool or leisure facility is not a problem, although it should be factored into the price which it isn't.
Breakfast was ok. At nearly £12 for either cooked or continental it is expensive and the portions are small. Staff not as attentive at breakfast but it was very quiet so it wasn't a problem. It might have been frustrating if there were more people eating at the same time.

On the way to the hotel I called and requested the post code of the car park listed on the hotel's website. The receptionist clearly never listened to what I had asked and gave me the hotel post code which resulted in us driving round in circles for 30 minutes getting caught in one way systems. When I called back to check the details she then gave me the postcode of the wrong car park, only discovered when we were leaving and were charged triple the rate listed on the hotel's website. When we checked in I at least expected an apology from the receptionist but she was indifferent. I told her that I thought she owed us an apology and she defensivley mubled somehting about a misunderstanding. Her attitude was appalling and not that of a 'boutique' organisation. We intended on eating in the restaurant and having some drinks in the bar, needless to say we swiftly changed our minds, not wishing to give the hotel any more business after such disapoiting service. We only had one day in Manchester and it started on a sour note.

Booked this night on a spring break offer of evening meal, room and breakfast .. Well worth it
The hotel is in a fantastic position in Piccadilly just near the train station .
The building itself is beautiful was an old warehouse ... the hotel itself is full of character mixing old with new to provide a superior hotel, possibly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in ..
Will definitely return ...hopefully very soon ..
We got the chance to upgrade for a small fee to a desirable room .. The room was wow !! Bed was huge and sooo comfy and the room was spotlessly clean ..
So if your planning a trip to Manchester this hotel is certainly one to consider ...
Happy Days .......
