“Great place on a budget”

I stayed here with friends during December. We received a warm welcome, the rooms were basic but clean and comfortable and breakfast is more than adequate, All in all a great place to stay while visiting Manchester

We were looking for an inexpensive hotel and this was exactly what we needed. Though it is located in the suburb of Manchester, it is only 10 minute ride to the city centre by bus. The nearest bus stop from the hotel is just 200 meters away and the bus connection was quite good and convenient.
The room itself was very simple and clean. The only thing I didn´t like was the fact that the mattress was quite hard. The breakfast was served in a spacious, beautiful hall beside the reception area, which I really liked. I would recommend this accommodation to budget travellers.

I was staying in the hotel for just one night and I liked it very much!

1) First of all, breakfast!!! Free continental breakfast was just AWESOME!!
A big nice dinning room, a lot of tables, good tidy staff, very delicious croissants and cakes, big choice of tea, cornflakes, milk, very good orange juice, it was the best continental breakfast I have ever had (and it was for free!)

2) Very nice double room.
Clean towels and and bed-clothes.
Comfy double room.
Free shower facilities.
TV in the room.
En-suite toilet and shower, not bad at all! (a sink was in the room)

3) Very fast check-in. We arrived very late, around 1 am in the night. It was a bit of a challenge - to find the hotel's entrance, and the door was closed (if you come after 11 pm you should enter a code to open the door or call a receptionist). But the receptionists saw us, opened the door, gave us our key immediately (they charged my card the day before so we hadn't to pay on arrival).
Not mention farness from the city center, the location of the hotel was quite nice - Platt Fields Park nearby, with the Manchester City Training Ground

In my opinion, this hotel has only two negative sides:

1) Location.
It's very far from the city center... 45 minutes by walk. But there are plenty of buses near the hotel running to the center every 5-10 minutes (and it takes approximately 10 minutes to get to the city center by bus).
Besides, this area is full of Hindus and other east-national people, shops and restaurants... I didn't like it at all.

2) Absence of free wi-fi in the room.

Ok, expect foreign student accomodation with 1960's decor, cold rooms, electrical sockets falling off the wall, dirty bed linen, unsecure windows, noise from other residents. We left after the first night.

We booked last minute stay at Luther King house as me and my partner decided we wanted to go to the Manchester Christmas Markets. We arrived when it was already dark n didn't have a clue where we were supposed to go as the reception is not really sign posted. The staff wasn't exactly friendly but wasn't rude at the same time. Once we arrived in our room (if that's what you call it) it was a bed tucker in the corner nxt to two windows (both a little drafty) a wardrobe and desk with telly on top. The bathroom consisted of a toilet and shower (the bathroom was that small the sink was in the room) the paint in the bathroom was coming off the wall n the shower had a sign on it saying the water pressure was low so didn't have a shower.the bed was lovely and comfortable but the downside was that it was nxt to two windows and our sheet had holes in it. Pay cheap you get cheap won't be staying again rather pay a little extra for a nicer room

I stayed in a twin room which was a very good size with desk and wardrobe, bathroom was nice too. Room was spacious and clean, extra blankets were in the wardrobe and a little basket of toiletries on the bed too. Continental breakfast was included in the price and tea and coffee making facilities in the room - only cost £5pp to upgrade to full English breakfast which is cheaper than most city centre hotels. Cost £10 in a taxi to city centre and very well connected by buses. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend this hotel and I would definitely stay here again.

On arrival we couldn't quite understand what this place was, (we saw a library coming up the drive). It didn't seem like a conventional hotel. Once checked in we went to the room, it was quite small with the double bed against the wall and small e suite shower room. The room was clean and had central heating on when we arrived. The bed was comfy and we even got breakfast included for the small price we paid. Taxi home from the centre in the small hours cost £11 if I remember rightly. Would consider this place again if we needed somewhere in Manchester on a budget.
