“Nice hotel with excellent staf”
Reviewed 21 July 2011

Stayed here for 1 night for the first time. I am a regular at Crowne Plaza in other parts of the country but this was a first in Manchester.
Excellent location and high quality finish in rooms and public areas. Room was really nice and well furnished.
I had room service meal which was good and breakfast was more than adequate. Not sure I like the self-service for tea/coffee, something not common in other Plaza hotels. Food quality was good though. Plenty of staff which makes me wonder why they can't seve tea/coffee?
I have booked again here so hopefully the positive expereince will be the same

Room Tip: Get a room as high up as possible to avoid road noise..level 4 or above

We came here the day after our wedding so that we could be fairly close to the airport for when we went on honeymoon

We had such a relaxing stay. Lovely room with nice toiletries, and the bed is REALLY COMFY!

I dont know why people on here complained about the breakfast service. It was fast and efficient and there was a great choice of food.Club room and facilities were great. Staff are very friendly.
The only thing I can fault is having to pay £15 per day for the parking over the road...but it is in the inner city so it's to be expected.

Will definately be coming here again and have recommmended to our friends
Thanks for such a lovely stay.

We have stayed at this hotel before and the good points are that the rooms are very modern, clean and if you get a room that is not on the side of the hotel then the rooms are also very bright with good city view, especially the higher floors. When we arrived we were allocated a room on the side of the hotel on the top floor (825), it was dark, dismal and no view, but when we complained to the reception we were re-allocated to room 805 and this room was fine, albeit the fire sprinkler valve in the room get vibrating which we only noticed during the middle of the night, we advised the manager the next morning and he said he would get it fixed right away, which I thnk he did, but no apology or token compensation was given for this inconvenience of an interuptted nights sleep. Our room was a Club Level Room which gave us access to the Club Lounge, the Club Lounges at the Crowne Plaza Hotel are definitely not as good value as the Hilton Executive Lounges, CP Club Lounges don't offer a very good selection of complimentary snacks and they don't offer spirit drinks, just wine, beer and soft drinks between 6pm-8pm, the continental breakfast in the lounge isn't worth getting out of bed for, so all in all I would not pay the supplement for the Club level again at CP Hotels. The hotel does not have a car park and only offers valet parking at £25 per night, we parked at an open air Euro Car Park just 100yds from the hotel door for £4.65 for 24hrs. The hotel is in an ideal and convenient location for all the shopping and nightlife that Manchester offers, being just 2 minutes walk from The Printworks Complex and Arndale Shopping Centre. We had our evening meal at the famous San Carlo Italian Restaurant on King Street West, 15 minute walk from hotel or 5 minute cab ride, San Carlo is absolutely fantastic and highly recommended, many "A list" celebrities/footballers frequently dine there, table reservations are essential but almost impossible to get on a Saturday night between 730pm-930pm unless booked months in advance. The breakfast at the hotel was full buffet service, you even had to get your own coffee/tea, no waiter service at all, the buffet selection of hot and cold choices was at best fair. Would we stay at this hotel again and recommend it to friends, probably yes for its location, but only in a standard room not a club room.

Room Tip: Request a high floor room over the front of the hotel, don't bother with Club Level rooms.

We stayed here for a three night city break. It was our first trip to Manchester and we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was a five minute walk from the centre and close to The Printworks where there is an assortment of chain restaurants, and also close to the Arndale centre, tram stop and free city centre bus stop. There was nowhere to park to drop your bags off to check in, however there are several car parks close by. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and gave us an excellent recommendation of a pub that was 5 mins away, and brewed it's own beer, Marble Arch. Our room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The club lounge had good views over the city, and was comfortable.

I love this hotel. The rooms are very slick and stylish. . .and the bed was one the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Staff were exceptional, and allowed us to check in early at around 9am. As for location, its right in the heart of the action of Manchester's city centre.

went with friend to see a band and stayed here, room lovely, very clean, beds sooooo comfortable, it felt quite luxurious. The best bit about the hotel for me was the bar and the delicious cosmopolitans they served. Am going to Manchester again this year and didn't hesitate, booked Crowne Plaza again.

When you first enter the hotel, you should recognize that something is up. The colors are terrible...black, white, pink...and gray. The windows are dirty, the steps are dirty and usually have people drinking wine on them...not at a table and chair, but right on the steps. Then you go into the elevator to find your room. Elevator opens to a funny smelly floor...black paint on the wall, gray black carpet, low light, and dirty scuffed walls
Every ounce of happiness that you have in your body falls out onto the carpet with every step. Then you get to the room. The window in the far corner has hand prints all over it. The room is black...gray...white...with a ridiculous red plastic mirror. I wanted to leave as soon as I got here. I was so happy we were not going to be in the room at all. At night when we returned to the dodgy section of Manchester, things didn't look much better. We tried to get room service but called 5 minutes before they closed so that was a big NO WAY. Then the next morning, we arrived right at 10 am to get the free breakfast and that was another NO WAY. All in all this place is dark depressing and sad. I will never return and probably never return to Manchester because of it. There was some type of Batman convention going on and I thought that was the only venue that would match this place...dark and scary. You can do much better than this place....Don't let the pictures fool you.
