Crowne Plaza Manchester City Centre

Reviewed 9 March 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights in February for a conference.
The hotel is centrally located, in close proximity to the MEN, Arndale and Printworks.
Parking is £4.50 for 24 hours if you park on Angel Street, 2 minutes walk to the hotel.
We booked a club room on the 8th floor which had a contemporary feel, floor to ceiling windows providing us great views of the city.
The room was immaculately clean, spacious and the bed was just awesome, giving me the best sleep i've had in years!!
The club lounge is lovely and offers a variety of soft drinks throughout the day, though it does to tend to get very busy in the evenings when serving canapes, wine and beers.
Breakfast was never the same each morning, there was always something missing or not enough of, ie, sugar and tea, we also found the tea to be very weak.
Besides this minor hiccup, everything ran like clockwork and we had an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors offer great views of the city.

I stayed for 2 nights here and cannot praise the hotel highly enough. From the friendly front door staff to the room with a view it was a joy. We were on the 7th floor so had a great view over the city. The room itself was spacious, modern and comfortable. The location is ideal for the MEN Arena and the centre of town. The cocktails in the bar were a bit pricey but that would be nit-picking. I'll stay here next time i'm in town.

Room Tip: I'd ask for a room on a higher floor because you can get good views over the city.

crown plaza manchester centre is ideally suited for a city centre hotel -with no soul. Having upgrded to their club level, the hotel room was larger than average, clean and had everything that was necessary for a quality, comfortable night. Using the "club lounge" was a disappointment as the refreshments were below expectations. We reserved a taxi with the hotel for 19.00 as we were attending a function. When this failed to arrive by 19.05 we asked the concierge to check. He did so,saying that "It s just around the corner-but we have all heard that old chestnut".He then got into a car and drove off ,leaving us to find an alternative by ourselves.
Breakfast was efficient but the food quality was poor.
Overall -hotel was good, staff were indifferent and the food poor.

Stayed two nights Friday and Saturday on a 2 for 1 deal using a Priority Club offer. Platinum status so I was upgraded prior to my arrival. Quick check in - given a envelope with my room key and welcome letter.
Room on the 4th floor - king size bed which was possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever stayed in. TV with Sky Sports 1, 2 & 3. Bath and separate shower, lots of towels, bath robes and slippers. Iron, ironing board and laptop safe.
Club Lounge on the 8th floor was ok, complimentary alcoholic drinks from 6pm to 8pm which made for a good start to both Friday and Saturday night. There was also complimentary breakfast in the Club Lounge: cereals, toast, pastries, fruit, coffee.
There is a fitness room with exercise bikes, cross trainers & treadmills.
Location is excellent if you are going to the (M.E.N or) MCR Arena and is literally moments away from the Arndale Shopping Centre. Shudehill Metro Link station is over the road and Victoria train station nearby. The Northern Quarter's bars are just around the corner, and Trof is an excellent bar for Sunday lunch.
Parking is available over the road at an NCP £15 for 24 hours - but no discount available for staying at the hotel.

Room Tip: Room 415 and 416 on the fourth floor are perfect for a group - these are interconnecting.

Stayed two nights in a lovely room, which was spotless, every member of staff I encountered was totally professional and yet friendly. You could not do better than this for a stay in Manchester Centre, close to the Printworks and main shops and a short walk to the MEN.
This was a second visit and I really wouldn't bother looking elsewhere.
ICH chain could get some tips on how to run their five star hotels from this establishment.

A very good, modern hotel situated right in the City Centre. Pleasant, well equipped & stylish rooms, very comfortable beds. Friendly staff, good breakfast, & floor to ceiling windows giving a decent view. For a city centre hotel, I found the outside noise level to be minimal. Downside is the lack of parking, not even a discount on nearby car parks. The NCP is very close, & costs £15.20 for 24 hours. Overall, will definitely return when next in Manchester.
