We stayed on Saturday 23rd for one night and enjoyed the "sunday soother" package booked direct with Crown Plaza.

I booked a few weeks before, then logged into my priority rewards to online to check the booking and saw it had been reduced by £40 so it is worth checking prices again. This reduction was honoured by the call staff on the booking line.

We arrived early and stored our bag with the concierge which was handy, we didn't find it too difficult on foot to find the hotel and thought it was a good location.

We had booked a deluxe club room, upgraded to a junior suite by Maddy on reception. We had a lovely room, it was very clean. Only point was we could hear more noise being on the 1st floor but this is not the fault of the staff and it is after all a city hotel.

The room was really clean and we were not bothered by house keeping noise. I did ask for the second bathrobe and commented to reception that it seemed to be set up for one person as there was only one small set of toiletries - yet two sinks in the bathroom etc. But really overall an excellent room. The shower is on the small side for a 6 foot man but the bath was of a good size.

We had breakfast, dinner and lunch all in the glasshouse restaurant. We were very happy with the food and had no complaints about the service. We would highlight Magdalene as offering excellent service. Coffee and tea was good, and the drink in the club room was excellent.

We had been booked for sunday dinner, we were the only ones in the restaurant at 2pm on Sunday afternoon and thought we might not get the best meals, especially when we were informed the advertised roast beef was off the menu, however we were served two rib eye steaks and they were gorgeous. We don't feel that the hotel merits some of its more negative reviews especially on the food.

The late checkout of 3pm for the sunday soother package was a good bonus. However we did find ourselves shut out of the room and club room before this when the key card automatically expired but this was resolved quickly by reception.

On the Saturday night we chose to eat in the hotel, there were only three couples in the restaurant but there was a huge dinner for all the torch relay people in another part of the hotel. We were never really aware of this and were served quickly and our meals were good.

On Sunday morning they served breakfast for the torch relay people at 4.30 onwards - but again we were not aware of this and enjoyed our breakfast at 9.00. It was never too busy.

If anything we could not believe how quiet the restaurant is with the promotions it is offering and the food being of a good standard. It was a bit sad to see it so empty when other places nearby had a long waiting time to being seated.

The club room is a lovely bonus if you have the time to spend in it. We never found it too busy. The staff servicing the club room were helpful and pleasant. The red wine was lovely.

We found that when we spoke with staff they did pass the time of day and were helpful, but of course they are keeping the hotel running and need to serve efficiently.

We would definitely return, but might request a higher room to avoid the night time noise. We would choose a club level room again for the lounge use, as the bar was quite busy at times.

We don't get away very often now but previously have stayed in most of the top ten manchester hotels and we felt that his hotel deserved to be higher than its current rating of 6th on trip advisor.

Room Tip: Consider asking for a quieter room - or not near the lift.

Possibly the most comfortable bed I've been in save a Westin. Rooms are gorgeously decorated, spacious and plush. Bathroom was very modern and chic. Dinner was great and so was breakfast. The only reason I cant give it 5* is the extortionate £3.50 surcharge to use an American Express at the bar.

We stayed here for one night as we were going to a concert at the MCR Arena (formerly the MEN). The hotel was well located for our needs which is why we chose it, but despite its proximity to the arena it felt like its sole focus was business travellers.

We arrived mid-afternoon, and had to queue to check-in; plus we had to ask about valet parking as it wasn't offered and there was no sign of the concierge. Our room was a club level deluxe room, which is a corner room with 2 large floor to ceiling windows. This would be great if overlooking something interesting, but an industrial corner of Manchester doesn't really have the view to warrant the windows. Also as the corner of the hotel we were in was at an intersection of two roads we were woken very early by traffic noise and the sirens from emergency vehicles because the windows don't provide adequate sound proofing.

The room was otherwise comfortable, with good amenities and a comfortable bed, if quite small for their top non-suite room category.

We had however specifically booked the deluxe room on the club level so that in the morning after a big night out we could chill out in a nice room and have the complementary continental breakfast, but as I said earlier the hotel only really caters to business travellers as the breakfast is not available after 9.30am. That's fine if you have to be at the office for 9am, but if you're enjoying time away from home as we were and seeing a gig until gone midnight with a few drinks out in town afterwards, then getting up for breakfast before 9am isn't really on the cards. The check-out time of 11am also doesn't really allow for much of a lie-in either.

As well as the road noise, we also received an un-requested wake-up call at 8am, and housekeeping was also knocking on the door to clean the room at 9am. So we left the hotel tired, not very relaxed, and hungry. We were really disappointed because this was one of the few precious occasions when we had a day of leisure and a night away with none of the usual time pressures we have at home, so we had paid a premium so that we could have a relaxing stay. The hotel deprived us of that, and for me that's unforgivable. If we'd just wanted a bed for a few hours sleep, which is basically what we got, then we would have stayed at one of the local budget hotels instead.

First time staying in a Crowne Plaza Hotel and it was a good experience. The priority club floor is a nice touch and the room was well equipped and very comfortable. Bar staff were very friendly turning over the TV channel so i could watch the sport I wanted to see. Didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening due to its location with other places, but breakfast was very nice, and just what is needed to start the day..
Room was very quiet with a good powerful shower. Only downside was that on check out, the receptionist simply said, OK, that is all done, and i waited for my taxi. I forgot to get a receipt and when I asked another receptionist for one, she required my debit card and pin to issue me a refund which I was not asked for first time. I'm sure the money would have been refunded it could have been a hassle.
Otherwise though a excellent stay and definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Be in the priority club and get access to this floor.

We stayed at the Crown Plaza mid week for 1 night. The hotel is approx 15 minutes walk from Piccadilly train station, 5 minutes from Victoria train stations and the approx 5 minutes to the MEN Arena. It is well located to the city centre although the hotel is not in the most "ecstatically" pleasing area but we never felt unsafe.

The Arndale Shopping centre/mall , is only 5 minutes away.

Check-in was shift and staff friendly. We stayed in a standard room, it’s size, typical of most city centre hotels. The room was clean and well decorated in a modern style. If you are travelling with children, you will need to request a larger room as it would not be suitable for more than two adults. Our room was near the lift, which could be heard in the room, although it did not impact on the night’s sleep. However, if you are a light sleeper it would be wise to ask for a room away from the lift.

Bathroom was clean had a nice shower and full size bath, equipped with the usual amenities.

The hotel also has a small gym equipped with a few cardio machines.

Nice hotel, close to the city centre, would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lift.

From paying the taxi to sitting watching the start of England v Italy in the club lounge with drinks and canapes could not have been more than 6 minutes. This is my third stay and it won't be the last. Customer service is priority here and it shows. The staff and rooms and food are great. A slick operation indeed.

Room Tip: Go for club floor - it's worth it.

When visiting the hotel, i was first greeted by a receptionist who was polite though spoke a very obvious script, the happiness did not feel genuine. We were then given our key card to our room, it was very delightful and stylish and the bed was 11 out of 10 for comfort. I was pleased with the lay out of the room and had plenty of space for everything. Though when it came to bed time, our bedroom must have been next to the lift shaft because it was noisy and it kept us a wake for several hours. If it wasn't for the bed being comfy then i don't think we would have slept at all. Over all stay was average but I don't think I'll be visiting again any time soon.
