The rooms here are huge...two double beds in my room, with plenty of floor space and lounge and desk chairs. Stylish and contemporary. Bathroom had a shower cubicle and a bath, with nice big vanity area too.
I opted for the buffet breakfast which was very well stocked and a good variety.
Definitely a great place to stay for a city visit.

Stayed here after a concert at the Phones 4u Arena (MEN).

Room was lovely, very clean and had all the amenities. Bathroom had both a bath and a shower cubicle which was a nice surprise.

Very close (less than 5 mins walk) from arena and also to shopping. There is an entrance to the arndale just down the road.

Breakfast was lovely lots to choose from and good quality.

Parking £9.50 for 24 hours in car park opposite.

Only bad thing was the noise from the traffic, even though we were on the 6th floor. Maybe ask for a room at the back if we stayed again.

This Crowne Plaza is opposite a NCP car park which is handy and close by the Arena and Arndale shopping Centre with a further 5 minute walk into Town. We had paid for a Club room which was on the top floor with nice large windows offering a panaramic view of the City. The room itself was well designed and looked good even if it was quite small. We tried to go to the Club lounge but it was so busy that we couldn't actually get through the door although we had a continental breakfast there the next morning. The staff were helpful and friendly and overall I was happy enough though there was not anything special on offer and it was a pity we were unable to use the lounge in the evening

Room Tip: I do not think Club rooms offer much extra

Dear Ric399,

My sincere thanks for taking the time to write your review of your stay at the Crowne Plaza Manchester City Centre. Needless to say, I was very sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the Club Lounge for a relaxing drink. We do get a busy lounge very often during weekends.

On another note I was happy to hear that you enjoyed breakfast in the Club Lounge and the interaction with our staff.

We look forward to seeing you again at the hotel very soon.

My kindest regards,

Had a fab two night stay here for our wedding anniversary. Great value for money, easy to find, good value parking across the road. The staff at the hotel were great, from reception to the bar, and resturant. We dined in the hotel on the Sat night, and were very impressed. £20 set menu with a glass of wine, three courses, will stay at this hotel again, and dine in. More impressed here, then Double trees and the Arora, where we have recently stayed

Room Tip: Ask for a quite room, high up away from the groug level

We paid £134 on a sat night mid nov, i suppose this is what you would expect to pay here. The hotel is very good and we had no problems whilst staying here. All staff friendly and the room was perfect. The car park the hotel use is a bit dodgy and not very well lit at night. The hotel is very conveinient for tye shops and the xmas markets.

Would start off by saint if there was a "good" or "acceptable" rating then I would gone for that but based on my experience on this recent trip it didn't warrant a "very good" rating.

On arrival the welcome was functional rather than friendly and until I mentioned it there was no reference to my being a Platinum member.

Also despite us no arriving until around 1.30 our room was not available although after a few minutes we were offered "a similar room on another floor" . I had booked for the club floor (8th floor) at a premium rate and we were allocated a room on the rewards club floor (5th floor).
If this was the same standard of room then I'd have to say that I query the value for money of the upgraded rooms.

Space was adequate but not large and only seating was a small lounger which if you sat on you wouldn't be able to see the TV as the lounger was squeezed into a corner.

Would also say that although the hotel is very clean the Decor is (intentionally) very dark which doesn't do much for the aesthetics.

We did take advantage of the free drinks session at 6pm where service was pleasant but the availability at breakfast (in the club lounge) the next morning was very poor. Food not topped up from well before 30 minutes from closure of service and missing cutlery (no knives to butter your toast etc) and no staff until around 5 minutes before service was due to end.....who then stated she had come to check everything was well !!

Am generally a consistent user of IHG and tend to use them when travelling on private trips outside of UK and usually happy with the service received and experienced good service in many parts of UK. However when in Manchester I tend to favour the V & A, on this occasion I thought we'd try the Crowne Plaza but based on this trip I think I'll revert back to the Marriott.

We stayed at the Crown Plaza Saturday night following a day shopping in the centre. Couldnt fault the hotel on any level. The staff were very professional warm and welcoming with some great advice on where to eat out at night. We were told of the complimentary drinks from 6 untik 8pm owing to the delux club room we reserved which we found to be a real bonus! The rooms were very large and clean with the bed being massive! Breakfast the following morning was faultless. Plenty to choose from and plenty to eat owing to the buffet style service. All in all a fab weekend. We will certainly be booking this hotel for our next years xmas shopping trip and cant wait! X
