I returned to Velvet Hotel to the room where I first stayed...the majestic Room 24. It has the most fantastic bed and the decor just makes a good nights sleep guaranteed. Dinner in the restaurant was again brilliant with the best staff in Manchester. Thank you to Jamie and Darren for all the help and special thanks to the brilliant housekeeping team...they deserve much praise for their hard work and lovely smiles. I have stayed many times here....and the reason....it is simply the best!

Fantastic hotel. Staff were very attentive and friendly.
Our room, room 405 was spectacular. Split over 2 floors it was superb. We really enjoyed the hotel stay.

Only small downside was the noise from the bars which went on till very late. But to be expected as it's in the city centre.

The velvet hotel appears lovely, clean and a great place to stay. However if you're looking to sleep for even an hour don't rely on this place. At the front of the hotel you have the noise from the nightclubs, at the back it's the alley noise. To top it all off the walls may as we'll not be there, we we're subjected to various and over the top nocturnal activities in our 3 night stay, which left us exhausted and traumatised. It's unfortunate given the lovely decor and nice touches from the hotel but we'll never stay there again.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed at the velvet for one night which i have to say was just not long enough! we wanted to move in! Our room was absolutely beautiful with a lovely comfortable bed, we booked a few extra's such as the romantic rose petal arrival which made the room look even more lovely, also upgrading our welcome tray with a delicious bottle of prosseco! we also used the valet parking service which was a handy extra and made the experience of arrival much less hassle. The staff were all lovely and very helpful both in the hotel and it the restaurant where we enjoyed champagne cocktails at happy hour and a beautiful breakfast the next morning! i would definitely recommend the velvet and have already been doing so too all my friends! we will definitely be back!

Arrived tired and achy to be greeted by the sweet smiles of Jamie and his colleague (nice man with beard) felt immediately at home, the décor in reception was fabulous, the staff attentive and welcoming, the customer service throughout our stay was second to none, including being joined by Mark the owner for a little jovial banter and drinks for myself, my partner, my visiting son and his partner . The room itself was lovely, excellent décor, comfortable bed and very clean, the little touches, sweet jar, biscuits, handwritten welcome note, the Ren toiletries, and of course the Duckie. 2 points that may be of interest to management, the buttoning on the bed upholstery needs attention and the room above has very squeaky floorboards just above the bathroom entrance, this however did not change my high opinion of the room and is mentioned only to be constructive. The room was luxurious And the high ceilings, exposed brick and good quality wallpaper were perfect. Housekeeping staff were excellent, the room was restocked and cleaned to a high standard, Breakfast was a joy, varied choice on the menu and the restaurant was happy to accommodate my mix and match requirements, and of course Darlene, what a superstar she is, she couldn't do enough for us and her glowing personality shone through, I was truly sad when she had a day off on our last morning ( the young man who worked that day was also fantastically friendly and attentive) someone please give Darlene a gold star and a big, well done hug. All in all a joyous experience staying at the Velvet Hotel, of course its beautiful, but the staff are the jewels in the crown, already booked in to come back

We stopped here for my girlfriends birthday, she loved it! When we arrived we got showed to our room and a few moments later a member of staff had brought a tray with ice and lemon, milk and biscuits. The bedroom was beautiful, huge bathtubs! I had paid extra for a love heart made from rose petals and chocolates to be put on the bed and that was totally worth it. Also, when we arrived, they were very helpful, asked us if we would like booking into the restaurant. And informed us of the breakfast times. Only downside is that our dressing gowns didn't look like they had been swapped as it had hairs on. And the hotel is expensive. There were people shouting through the night, but that's to be expected as the hotels location is on a very lively strip. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel, and cannot wait to stop again!!

Stayed at Velvet for one night just prior to the Easter weekend and absolutely loved it. My room was oriental themed, had Japanese screens and silver lamps, a very comfortable bed - not too firm, unlike many hotels - and high thread count bedding. Tea and coffee making facilites were available, although the complimentary tea and cookies on arrival on a beautifully presented tray with kilner jars of lemon slices and shortbread meant I didn't have to lift a finger. Better than usual selection of snacks and treats in the minibar and supplies basket e.g. Haribo sours and popcorn. The huge wetroom had a double shower, piles of soft towels and very good free toiletries (REN) as well as the icing on the cake - a rubber duck to take home! Little extras like a proper hairdryer rather than one of those crap wall mounted ones were much appreciated. Good turn down service with velux blinds tackled for you and all cushions tidied away.

Staff were friendly and welcoming on reception and in the bar and restaurant. Our party had mussels, cassoulet and a fab masala sea bass on Bombay potatoes as well as a thorough sampling of the cocktail menu. Really could not find fault with anything. Couple of tips/heads up - rooms on higher floors are quieter and you will have a £50 deposit/card retainer levied on checking in which is refunded once you have paid the bill, just so you know. Our party of three loved this place, thought it excellent value for money and vowed to return!
