me and my family travelled all the way up to Manchester from Cardiff to see Miley Cyrus in concert at the MEN arena. The journey was rather stressful due to 4 train changes etc. Well anyway, we arrived, drove past the arena and we were there, the location was perfect for that, not recommended if you want to stay in the city centre.
Also the rooms were lovely, flat screen t.v's with freeview, lovely decor and vending machienes handy for children, the pool was also lovely, quite busy though but thats where the good ends.

We decided to eat around 5:30 as to not be late for the 7o'clock start to the concert, so to be careful, i decided to phone down to book a table at the restaurant, it turned out to be a good idea as the hotel was full but there was still quite a few tables empty. So we sat down and ordered. As time went by we became more and more wiery as to where the food was, we only ordered burgers! So i spoke to the waitress and asked where the food was, so she said the chef said it would be 2 minutes, that was at 6:30 after ordering at 5:15!

So my sister went to reception and complained and there was no duty manger, the check-in agent was lovely and nearly had a nervous breakdown had to handle all complaints because the duty manger was in the kitchen cooking as they hadn't booked enough staff for the guests! There was also another women at the desk shouted like nothing i've heard before!

We asked again where the food was and waited until 7:20 and walked out after many other guests had, the staff just didnt know what to do with themselves.

After getting back after the concert at 10:30 we were more than starving, so my sister spoke to the check-in agent again and he was lovely again and the duty manager appeared to apologise even more, so we ended up not paying for the bottle of wine and drinks in the restaurant and she later came up to the room with 2 pizzas and drinks and apologised again.

The hotel was lovely and the location was perfectly situation 2 minutes across the road from the MEN arena, but they need to sort out their staff, they know they've got a brilliant location which is taken adavantge ofwhen tours are here, would take alot of persuading to go back alough it was a really good time

This trip was s surprise birthday present for me and on arrival at the reception area I was not sure what it would be leike.Although very clean it was ..minimalistic! However i was pleasantly surprised by the room.Larege, bright, airy and immaculate with crisp white befdding on the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever stayed in. I am not ususally a good sleeler in strange surroundings but this king size bed was so comfortable i found it difficult to leave. Big 'soft' pillows instead of flat hard ones which is often the case. The hotel is brand new and it shows. Lovely big bathroom and powerful shower. We dined in the restaurant on Saturday due to the appalling weather and were very pleased with our meals/ service/ presentation and bar area . The staff could not have been any more helpful. All of this and a stones throw away from the Arndale and Triangle. As for the comment about the car park!!!!! How close would you have liked it to be?????
Excellent weekend break

Single female traveller - I rang before finalising the booking and was told there was secure parking directly opposite the hotel. This is not the case it is an NCP 24hr car park and about 5mins walk from the hotel. Also very, very diffilcult to stop the parking when arriving at night. If you are coming in from the Motorway then the parking is on the wrong side of the road with no opportunity to cross over into the entrance. My sat nav got confused trying to get me back to the parking again. Also I stayed there because there was a spa and a beauty salon which was meant to be open until 20:00 each of the 3 nights I was there it closed early. There are no windows in the room that can be opened and room service is very, very limited

A nice, clean, modern hotel - yes, a tad Ikea-like, but has everything you need. Although others have posted otherwise, we found the staff really friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and well designed with a big wet-room style shower. It was pretty quiet even though our room faced the busy road outside. They have those cheap-feeling squeegy soap/gel dispensers and ours had come adrift of the wall. Nevertheless, it was right opposite the MEN Arena and a 10 minute stroll to the shops. Parking is across the road in the NCP car park at the Arena, and cost £3.50 for 24 hours - it was clean, well-lit and had security staff patrolling. The hotel bar became quite busy after the event at the Arena finished, and was a nice enough spot (given that it's a big hotel bar) for a late-evening drink.
