We visited the museum yesterday and spent a very enjoyable 3 hours there. The natural history collections were excellent , but the endangered frogs and lizards in the Vivarium were particularly fascinating and educational. The highlight, however, was listening to the curator of the Egyptian Galleries, Campbell Price, describe the origins and the significance of several of the unique artefacts held in the excellent Egyptian collection. A real treat.
Manchester is clearly a vibrant city with lots to offer both it's residents and the occasional visitor - but the Manchester Museum is well worth a few hours of anyone's time - and not simply as a fall back on a rainy day. This really is a "must do" in Manchester.
