“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

We visited the museum on our recent holidays in Manchester and had a great morning exploring. The Vivarium was an unexpected treat and very enjoyable. Six year old loved Stan the T-Rex and the solar system room. We spent a good couple of hours in the museum on a rainy day in the school hols and were very impressed. Friendly, helpful staff - lots to see and do and great craft activities for kids. Easy to find after travelling into the city centre by bus and free entry. Highly recommend and would definitely go back!

“Ideal for a rainy day”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

This museum is great for a wet day activity...........plenty of exhibits from live creatures to Victorian stuffed animals, fish and birds, dinosaurs to Egyptians, and bows and arrows to crystals. It was quite busy today, but didn't spoil the visit for myself and ten year old grandson. We have been several times before but there is always enough to keep him interested for a couple of hours despite ADHD. There were creative activities, but aimed more at younger children. Take your own food and drink - there is an area where you can eat - as the cafe is very busy and relatively expensive......

“Interesting and worth a visit”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

I love the stuffed animals and birds here which are always the highlight of my visit, always a bit victorian-esque and macabre, a little bit of the unusual in the heart of Manchester. Definitely worth a peruse for any self-respecting Manchester tourist.

“Very well laid out with something for everyone”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

There is something for everyone in this museum from Egyptology to the Vivarium with frogs and snakes in their natural environment. All the exhibits are extremely well described and the guides inside the museum are most helpful and knowledgeable. We were a party of 4 including a 15 year old boy who wasn't a bit bored. There is also a nice gift shop on the ground floor and plenty of seating as you go round and more than adequate toilet facilities. Temporary exhibitions change all the time so there is always something different to see on successive visits.
