I went to this restaurant earlier this month as part of a large group from work. As it was my first visit to I wanted to try the Lamb Nihari which the menu described as 'A traditional specialty from Lahore: slow cooked lamb with a thick & spicy sauce'. I was asked how spicy I would like it and replied with medium.
What arrived was a very runny dish with very over cooked lamb chunks. The lamb chunks were also full of fat and gristle which was not removed and the sauce was ******* ridiculously hotter than a 'medium'.
I absolutely love my lamb curry and I am Indian (don't let the pseudonym name fool you) and believe me when I say that "this very easily, and by a country mile, was the WORST lamb dish I have ever tasted". If this is Pakistani cooking at it's best then please count me out!
I would have complained but we had events to attend to and I just couldn't be bothered. I always finish my meat dishes and I left half the lamb in the balti and if you knew me - that never ever happens.
Oh and another thing, who serves poppadoms without giving the guests small plates? Am I supposed to balance the chutney, sauces etc on the poppadom? We had to ask for these - jeez!
Don't let the decor fool you, I'm sure there are better restaurants in Manchester - Yuk!
