“Great hotel”
Reviewed 8 February 2014

Just returned from an overnight stay(Friday night) I was worried that the hotel might be too noisy but the staff were so accommodating and sorted a quiet room on the top floor. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, Carley especially. We needed to get a taxi to the MEN at night. Daniel couldn't have been nicer- he sorted a cab out for us and gave us helpful tips about where to eat and visit. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was good-hot food also available. Don't be put off by the roadside spot. Once inside there is very little traffic noise-we were at the side of the hotel. The staff make this hotel and would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Tenth floor is the best for quiet night.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel.

It gives me great pleasure that my staff were able to make your stay an enjoyable one. If you are a light sleeper it really is worth asking for a room on a higher floor.

I will be sure to make sure that Carly and Daniel get to see your kind comments.

Kind regards

Spent one night here on Feb. 6th. Clean and comfortable. Great, young staff, particularly at breakfast. Breakfast more than adequate, and free WiFi a great bonus.
Also walk in shower far preferable to bath

Room Tip: Possibly higher the better, to get away from road noise.

Very good quality budget hotel, good facilities and modern rooms. A little on the small side but good for a couple of nights and only10 mins. to city centre. Free WiFi and simple breakfast included. We would certainly book this again.

Have just spent three nights here - staff brilliant, really helpful and engaging and full of useful information and a great central location. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby and 5 minutes from Oxford Road Station. Have recommended it to everyone I work with! Thank you

The hotel is right next door to Oxford Road station so location wise it's very good for central Manchester. When I checked in I asked for a quiet room away from the lifts and was given room 401. I was assured this was nowhere near the lift; I then found it was right behind the lift and as soon as you walked in you could hear the whirr or machinery. So I asked to move, and after being told no other room was available I eventually ended up on the 10th floor facing Oxford Road (they magically found another room when I insisted on changing). Even at this height you could hear all the traffic so the sound-proofing on the windows wasn't great. The room was relatively small (smaller than 401) with a fairly comfy queen size bed, and a very uncomfortable sofa (why no cushions?). The bathroom was very small with just a shower unit - the pressure was quite low and the hot water in the sink took ages to come through. Breakfast was cheap produce (Tesco value sausages, scrambled eggs from a packet and cheap beans), and a scrum. Thankfully I got there early enough to secure a table but after 9am it would have been difficult - they even tell you you can take your breakfast to the room! No bar in the hotel either. Returning to the hotel at 130am someone tried to tailgate in behind me - you need to swipe your card to enter. Its clear they have security issues during the night as there is a lot of night time activity in the local area. It doesn't help that reception is on the lower ground floor and therefore the staff cannot keep an eye on things. Not bad but I wouldn't rush to stay here again.

Dear Mr Morley

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback from your recent stay. Your comments are important to us as we strive to improve the service that we offer.

We have recognised that our breakfast room is very small and can get very busy and we are in the process of extending this area. We suggest that guests are free to take their breakfast to their room rather than wait if that is their preference.

The hotel is located in a very busy part of Manchester City Centre and we do have security at the hotel throughout the night as we value to safety and security of our guests.

I find it disappointing that you were allocated an incorrect room originally and pleased that we were able to change this for you.

Again I would like to thank you for your comments.

Kindest regards

Rooms are clean and modern but perhaps a little smaller than average HI express rooms.
Hotel is relatively easy walking distance to city centre and Manchester Uni.
Room (10th floor) was quiet.
Air conditioner/heater was efficient and quiet.
Plentiful public parking across the road £5 per night in Jan 2014.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the upper floors away from traffic noise.

A first rate stay in a first rate hotel.

Hotel staff helpful and courteous from the front desk to the those working in the breakfast area,
Inclusive of clean staff.

Nothing was to much trouble.

Room and bathroom very clean with a large walk in enclosed shower.

Very comfortable warm bed.

Exit the front door, turn right and you have a 10-15 minute walk to the campus area of Manchester
University-------ideal hotel if you want to visit your offspring at Either the above Uni or Manchester
Metropolitan Uni.

Exit the hotel to the the left, and walk to the first main intersection, (Pret Mangier) is situated on one corner---(Weatherspoons is on the opposite side)---------head right and walk up to Piccadilly,
And into the centre of Manchester.----Total time taken for walking would be in the region of 10-15 minutes.

There is also a free metro bus running past he hotel

A nice little feature, is that you can avail of coffee upon your return to the reception/ dining area.

I have no trouble recommending this hotel to anyone, and look forward to my return.
