I've been on many a night out in the gay village over the past 6 or 7 years... I can't think of a bad one. Its cheap and its certainly cheery! Recommended if you wantto drink, dance a lot! And really let your hair down.. Completely unpretentious.
Also some lovely dining during during the day, with seating outside in the warmer seasons.

I was in Manchester last week and enjoyed the Gay Village very much and I am from the southeast part of the US...definitely not a local. My group of gays and straights were nothing but welcomed to your beautiful community. I have lived in big cities. The bigger the gay ghetto, the more problems. And sorry, but many times it is because of rough neck straights that don't know how to play nice in the gay sandbox that cause the caution from gay bar owners. I have found the best way to counter this is to either simply go to another bar happy to take my pounds or simply let the bouncers know you ARE a tourist and happy to be a part of their community but respectful as well. A bit of good will and charm goes a long way.

well there is no surprise when i look at the comments on here Not a local you can't come in, plus u don't look gay” oh and if you do get in after buying a drink you get through out
this is a Manchester gay bar i am gay how the hell can they categorize us they should be keeping the trouble out people who are too drunk not saying no to people who they don't think look gay -- i mean come on how can you tell if someone is gay or not its only a matter of time before the ship sinks .

looking on trip adviser is just underlining the problem cheap beers encourage anti social behavior all drinks £1.50 - £2.00 maybe the licencing should see if there following responsible drinking .

i think its a joke of a place needs knocking down leave the pretentious picky places in areas where there most suited not in a pure Mancunian area anyone should be welcome

We went to two bars, G-A-Y where the bar staff have absolutely NO customer service skills whatsoever. We also went to New York New York were everyone seemed to stink of sweat and all be taking speed? As we left there one Cnut thought it was ok to rub his hands round my face, he's lucky I didn't scratch his eyes out.

The only thing going for the Gay Village is The Remembrance Show Bar.

I won't be returning anytime soon.

It is wonderful that such a "small" place is open enough to have that short are full of gay shops, bars and facilities. That's what's good about Manchester, There is everything there!
