Stayed at the The Midland for a conference, having lived in Manchester a while I had never actually stayed here but decided to take the opportunity this weekend.
There is nothing wrong with this hotel that I can find, but then there isn't really much "WOW" factor, so it's ideal for a business or leisure break, but I would probably go for somewhere like The Lowry or The Radisson Edwardian for a special occasion or a luxury break. That may just be a personal taste thing - this is quite an old style hotel. Lovely, but not cutting edge. It does feel very snug and I had a brilliant nights sleep.
I stayed in room 204 and it was wonderfully quiet at night. Good bath and shower. Very clean. Imposing image of Manchester architecture on the wall and a million pillows not my taste but overall very good. Not the biggest room but not small at all. Plenty of space for two.
The whole place is really clean, the staff polite and well turned out.
Re-parking, anyone who knows Manchester should know that this is at a premium in the city centre, I would strongly suggest taking advantage of the brilliant public transport links that serve this hotel - Bus, Train and a tram practically opposite the front door. Tonnes of taxis too if you want to take it easy.
Lots of lovely eateries and bars near by, and a very cheap cinema (The AMC - £4 after 11!). Cannot complain, other than a few things weren't to my taste, but does what is does very well. A solid 4 star.
