Visited the restaraunt on the strength of the Tripadvisor reviews and wasn`t disappointed. The menu was enticing with with approx 7-8 options on each course the service was friendly and the food was technically cooked to a high standard.I would definitely go back in the future.

We visited No. 4 for the first time over the weekend and we will certainly be going back. The restuarant is set back in an old terraced cottage in a side street just off the main drag in Didsbury. This gives it quite a homely effect and the welcome when we arrived helped to reinforce this effect. We were taken up the narrow stairs to our table (be sure to ask for a table downstairs if you are not too good on your feet). The menu struck us as catering for all tastes and pockets from a homemade cheese & onion pie served with mash through to fillet steak. I chose the twice cooked cheese souffle for starter & my husband had the croquetes - both were delicious (but we agreed that my souffle took the prize!). We both opted for the vegetable curry as a main and we were not disappointed - the spicing was just perfect giving a really tasty curry. We didn't have enough room left for desert but we did have a plate of the chocolate truffles which were gorgeous & perfect if you just want a little nibble of something sweet. The service was excellent - very relaxed for a busy Saturday night. All in all a lovely evening.

We have lived in Didsbury for a long time, but after an indifferent meal at this address about 15 years ago, we haven`t been back, despite being aware of the fact that the restaurant had changed hands quite a few years after our visit. It is a bit irritating to discover that we had been missing out on an excellent restaurant and very friendly atmosphere. The menu was short and every dish was tempting, so it is the kind of place to which we will happily return to sample everything. The wine list was good and reasonably priced, and to sum up it was clear that everyone in the very busy restaurant was having an excellent time. Yet another restaurant located in the Manchester suburbs which compensates for the paucity of good eateries in the City Centre.

Yet again, another great meal at No 4.

This was a busy Saturday evening and we had a table downstairs. What particularly impressed me on this trip was that the owner rang me in advance to warn of the possibility that we might be seated upstairs to give us the option to postpone our trip. Good customer service.

We shared the tasting plate for a starter, and both our main courses were tremendous - the bass in particular.
