Arrived at hotel to a full car park, after circling the grounds of the hotel 5 times I asked in reception what they suggested when the car park was quite clearly full, the reply came - "there is a piece of grass outside the hotel grounds you can try there", reluctantly but with no other option I headed for the piece of grass, upon finding the piece of grass this also was fully taken with cars, thus leaving no space near hotel grounds to park. Checking in found guests face to face with the most miserable receptionist a hotel guest could possibly be presented with who informed us you have two single rooms, I had in fact booked one double room one single upon my query she said "owhh yeah well it was a single but we put double beds init".
After tugging my cases up the makeshift ramp over the stairs (which in fact poses a safety hazard) I was acquainted with my room for this evening. A single the receptionist was certainly correct on, with not enough room to even turn around let alone unpack belongings. I found dust as thick as the Duty Manager, covering the dressing table, inside and outside of the wardrobe, the coffee tray. On entrance to the bathroom there was an absence in toilet roll, blood smeared over the hygiene bag dispenser and a toilet that was flowing water constantly making almost as much sound as Niagara Falls!
After discovering the box we were to be staying the night in, I thought it appropriate to show the hotel staff the standard in which the room we were to spend the evening was. After discussing with the hotel receptionist I was informed with a look to kill that there was no other rooms so nothing she could do, and that was it. I asked to speak with the manager who followed us to our room, upon entrance he said well you have cleared the dust from inside the wardrobe and wiped the dust off the table so I have no proof, so nothing I can do. Luckily I had pictures I had taken on the camera and once shown his response was to the dust “look’s like cocaine to me”, apparently its ok for cleaning staff to leave cocaine for their next guests to find. On mention of the blood, dirt on bathroom walls, dust, size of the room Gary said “well there ain’t gonna be no more rooms here no better than this, this how they come as standard”, upon his exit I asked for a toilet roll his reply came “I’ll leave you to sort ya self out from here”, I questioned “so you are asking me to leave the hotel, to buy toilet rolls for me to bring back to the hotel?” eventually however a toilet roll did arrive.
On leaving my hotel room there was a congregation of elderly around the lift bearing a sign “Out of Order”, they had been placed on the top floor of a hotel with no working lift and cases they would be taking on a two week holiday with them in the morning. One with breathing difficulties could not even make it up the stairs with no case, again came the reply “well we are fully booked, there’s no other rooms”.
On arriving for dinner I gave our room numbers “you haven’t got a table booked, and you haven’t already paid madam”, I had in fact paid for my 3 course meal when booking the hotel, I was then left with a £45 bill to pay for something way under average which I was certain I had already paid. After checking my reservation I had in fact already paid for the meals in which I had just paid for again, proving them this via email, the receptionist said “oohh yes it has just come up on our system now”
The hotel is a joke, ruining a whole weekend, leaving guests feeling exasperated with staff, the hotel and particularly the Manager who found it his main duty to walk around handing out daggers to any guest who complained to him. This hotel obviously does not agree with “The customer is always right” – this time Gary we are more than correct, please enjoy my pictures, they make for………….. disgusting viewing!
