Firstly, my wife visited the hotel in mid October for a local coach firms annual conference. We have been to previous similar conferences which were held at various locations. My wife, and other people attending the conference, agreed that this was by far the best location that the firm had used. Good accommodation, food, pleasant and polite staff. The decor of the room used for the conference dinner was outstanding.
The second visit, also a coach trip, was on the 15th November, and followed a short shopping visit to the Trafford Centre. We received a warm welcome from the staff and enjoyed an excellent dinner in pleasant surroundings. Following the dinner we were entertained by Peter who ensured that we had an extremely enjoyable afternoon. He, like all of the staff at the hotel, was polite and courteous. All staff members were a credit to the hotel. Colin W.

We stayed at this hotel on a coach trip holiday and were very impressed with the service we received. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the food was good and plentiful, the evening entertainment was very good indeed. Staff helpful and friendly. There was only one downside some of the dining room staff had a very poor understanding of the English language.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband from7th to 11th November 2011 and can only describe the break as beyond our highest expectations, The room, no. 58 although small was smart, clean and very comfortable, we had change of bedding and towels every day. Food was excellent with a good variety of choice and smiling service from all the staff. Entertainment each evening was also excellent and hosted by Peter who helped make the whole experience a pleasure. Would certainly use this hotel again and would recommend it to all.

My Wife and I stayed at this hotel (Mon 7 Nov 2011 - Fri 11 Nov 2011) arriving by coach, everything was organised in reception for speedy access to our room No.50, which was nice, clean, but possibly a little small, (although we only needed it for sleeping) as we were fully entertained for our 4 nights stay.

The entertainment which was hosted by Peter was excellent as was all the service provided by the staff, in the bars and restaurants. The food provided by the Hotel, both choice and variety, were excellent. thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would definitely stay here again.

On November 9th a group of us had a day trip to Trafford Shopping Centre followed by a meal and entertainment at the Britania Country House Hotel. The staff were all very good and very pleasent and nothing was any trouble for them. The meal was very good and a great afternooon of entertainment. This is our 2nd visit and would return again.

I posted on here last January 7th 2011 regarding poor quality service from the duty manager and a pathetically flimsy lift that broke down between floors on the only two occasions that members of our party used it.

In his response, the manager, Joe Reilly, tried to blame events on our incompetence. A pokey hole of a lift is fitting for a pokey hole of a hotel like the Britannia but this lift just wasn’t fit for purpose and should be decommissioned and replaced with something more appropriate. For him to blame us for overloading the lift (erm 1 averaged sized lady with 1 piece of luggage – really Mr Reilly?!) is just ridiculous.

And Mr Reilly, please do not invent what happened when we asked your duty manager for help – lying really isn’t a fitting response; it simply exposes your inadequacies.

Please do not stay at this hotel; it will leave you disappointed, perhaps angry and more than a little resentful of your decision to stay there. Do not be tempted by their cheap prices because you will still feel like you were mugged.
