Stayed at this hotel recently whilst visting Manchester with my boyfriend for a birthday treat. We booked a suite and it was gorgeous the size of a small flat, fabulous super king bed, lovely modern decor, an enormous luxury bathroom with Jack and Jill sinks and great lounge area. We checked in around 2pm and I asked if we could have a a bottle of champagne on ice for us in our room to drink before we went out for the evening. When we got back at 6pm the champagne was nicely chilling in a bucket of ice there was also a little tray of chocolates with a Happy Birthday message pipped in chocolate so nice suprise. Had two cocktails in the bar before the front desk ordered us a taxi. The only negative was we expected breakfast to of been included in the rate but not so!, particulary with us booking a suite we declined to pay £17.95 each and gave it a miss!. However everything else was great and the hotel is so close to the train station, shops and Canal street it's quiet and feels a bit more exclusive than some of the other hotels with the Hens and Stags waiting outside heading home on the Sunday morning. It's a blink and miss it hotel with the entrance not being on Portland street but in a side street but we liked the fact it's a little hidden and will definately stay again

Hotel is located 10/15 minutes walk from Piccadilly Station in a great location for shopping and night life. Our bedroom was large with a massive, comfortable bed, digital radio, TV, tea & coffee making facilities, hair dryer and iron and our bathroom was equally large and modern with a separate bath and monsoon shower. Both rooms were immaculately clean however as others have mentioned you couldn't open the windows so no fresh air although there was air conditioning. The hotel's central location means there is a lot of noise from outside at night despite double glazing so if you want to sleep before 4am take some ear plugs! Noise within the hotel itself was non-existent - we didn't hear any other guests so sound proofing between rooms must be good. Staff were friendly and helpful, there was a nice atmosphere and the hotel had an upmarket feel to it. On the pricy side but a good place to stay in the centre of Manchester.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights over the August bank holiday weekend and could not have received better service, all of the staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable and it certainly was. The room was very spacious and up to a very high standard with a very comfortable bed! The bathroom was outstanding and the shower was simply brilliant!
The bar is lovely and again the service very friendly and efficient, the food is also lovely and I would definitely recommend the afternoon tea! It’s a great, central location yet you wouldn’t have thought so when in the room as there was no noise from outside.
Over all I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and will certainly be staying again so a big thank you to all of the staff!

Spent three nights here. Great central location. That does mean the portland street rooms pick up some street sounds at night. Breakfast was excellent. Rooms really comfortable; mine had a great shower. Would definitely consider staying here again....but there is a premier inn just down the road.

Stayed one night in August for business. Rooms are nicely decorated and of a reasonable size. Bathroom was great with dark tiles, bath and separate shower. Everything was beautifully clean. All staff were extremely helpful and breakfast was lovely. Felt rooms were quiet and I wasn't disturbed by much outsized noise, but the room was hot. Didn't find a/c until next morning. Would definitely recommend.

Me and my husband have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Macdonald. We were in room 315 and the room itself was lovely. It was modern, clean and the bed's were so comfy, if only we could have got some sleep ! The noise outside our window started about 10pm and went on until about 4am. When we asked at reception the next morning we were told we should not really have been put in that room on a Tuesday night, due to the noise from the night-club that is right across the narrow street. We were asked if we wanted to change rooms, but we declined as we were told the club would not be on again until the weekend, however we still heard alot of noise the next night, probably as we were so close to the bars and clubs on Canal Street.

The Hotel is very central and we found everything was within walking distance. Just a 5minute walk from the Hotel was the Art Museum, which is free entry and well worth a look. We had breakfast and evening meal included and the meals at night were fantastic and of a very high standard. The staff on the whole were very friendly and made our stay very enjoyable.

We would stay at this hotel again, but a word of advice to those thinking about staying here, depending on which night of the week it is, you will need your ear plugs!

Me and my Boyfriend fancied a romantic getaway and chose this hotel on the great reviews and central location. The room was perfectly clean, huge bed, lovely bathroom and plenty of space. We'd stayed in the Hilton before and found this hotel room to be just as nice, if not better! We were on the top floor and the windows were big and the room wasn't too noisy at night. The only thing I was disappointed with was that the bed was two singles with just a sheet over the top, meaning during the night you could roll over and fall into the gap! I expected the mattresses to at least be zipped together or have a mattress topper to cover the gap. Also we couldn't open the windows but the air con was easy to use and not too noisy at night. Other than that the staff were friendly and we had a great time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor, the windows didn't come all the way down to the floor so we fel...
