Have read a lot of bad reviews for this hotel but booked it anyway as it was a lot cheaper than the other hotels in the city centre for saturday night, so wasn't expecting too much. Found it better than expected. Staff were friendly, good location with nightlife nearby. The room was spacious and the bathroom was nice. other parts of the hotel need a lot of work done (some parts of the lobbies) but didn't really effect us. Poor lighting and the sound of the rain hitting the ceilling window which was disturbing while trying to sleep were the bad points of the room. Overall a good place for a group of people wanting to go out in Manchester but don't recomend it for couples. A decent budget hotel.

I was sorting a boys night out in manchester and everywhere else was busy. So I booked us in at this prison. My room had curtains so I opened them but instead of seeing a window there was the beach sunset wallpaper that appears at the end of scarface! What a welcome!
I noticed that they catered for wedding receptions there!! I could weep for any happy couple spending, what should be the best day of their lives spent at belsen!
ENJOY YOUR STAY!

just returned from 2 nights in this hotel. ab freezing last weekend. i wont go through it all only just to totall agree with Rod- lisa Dear oh Dear". we were given a 4th floor room smelling strongly of cig smoke. the v nice receptionest did offer us alternatative on 3rd. this corridor is been repainted, room was small, dingy, smelt of fust, fridge is toy that holds 2 cans . def needs major overhall . decided to get fan heater and return to original room as looked brighter and cleaner.shower broken in our room, mould, wardrobe doors both off rails and just propped up against inside shelf. bed linen clean but looked like only pillow cover was changed as it smelled of cig smoke( ? last guest!!) ugh we purchased incense sticks and put in bathroom that day to clear the cig smell.. breakfast is as other review. cold , cheap and the bacon is cooked in dish in oven i imagine. pale and water comes to mind. toast takes 3 to 4 runs in toaster. tea/coffee in large self sef=rvice flasks not hot and not make with boiling water judging by taste. eve food....just forget it. basic steak, chicken, pizza chips.avoid if you expect even basic level of comfort and not for anyone with a disibility. could be so easily made better with little changes. where are the managers. def wont be back and would never recommend.

Room Tip: avoid at all costs or if you do fond yourself there get heater first thing. watch the lift doors al...

Arrived and found the hotel fairly easy to get to and the car park is along the street. We booked online and after reading reveiws we asked for a room with a window, we ended up with what they call a "city room" a box with no window no ventilation and no heating/cooling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My wife went straight to reception and asked to be moved, they stated that you have to pay more for a window!!!!!! as i am clostrophobic they eventually moved us at no extra cost but only after a raging arguement with the manager..

The room was old and tired and not decorated circa 1990, we had a small potable TV with about 5 channels when you could get it to work at all. The bath room was terrible with brown very tacky plastic trim to hide the bad walls, the sink edges had been knocked off by people openning bottles on the edge!!!! The bath had about an inch of silicone to seal it which had gone black and mouldy. The shower was a combination and you had to lift up a button to get it to direct to the taps, but what ever position you put it in it sprayed out of both tap and showerr and went all over the floor even with the curtain round........ sighs

The room had secondry glazing as the old metal framed windows whistled all the time which drafted all over the room.

The breakfast was horrible and very cold, we went to a cafe for breakfast... the sausage was pure fat and really cheap which made you want to vomit!!!! the bacon was cold and the mushrooms tasted of pure grease.........

We didnt go to the restaurant as we woundlt dare so i cant comment but if the food was like the breakfast stay clear!!!!

The hotel is ran by a indian family and they were friendly enough but they have no idea of standards...

Please avoid this hotel if you have a disablity as the lift is up ten steep stairs and you have to carry someone up them!!!!

The location was good right in the centre but lets be frank here thats all it has going for it!!!

Room Tip: To get a good room just simply go somewhere else!!!!!!

Stayed at this hotel having booked a 3 day break with National Holidays. The first night we stayed there was awful. It had been raining most of the day on the Fri we had been having a drink in the bar on the Fri night and decided to go to bed about 11.00pm.When we went to our room no 519 we found our Flat Sheet,Quilt Cover, and Pillows were soaking wet the window above our bed was leaking water. We reported this and got moved to a Superior Room ???? .I had read the bad reports on the internet about this hotel and didnt think it could be that bad how wrong i was.

The service from the Restaurant manager was exellent and food surprising good

Breakfast was buffet style but evening food was exellent everyday and happy hour drinks were £1.70
