Rooms ok, plus side there are smoking rooms! Restaurant do avoid food was dire. Ok if you want a cheap stay for one or two nights. Not noisy at night. Lifts very slow. Room upkeep poor. Breakfast very poor - food out too long, no fresh tea just stewed stuff in a thermal thing.

Although the hotel is ideally located for Manchester City Center, Dont be fooled by the location. Pay more money and you will get a decent hotel!!! I was shocked to say the least when they offer you a smoking or non smoking room, I though that there was a ban in our country, The whole hotel stinks of smoke and weed, and I am not saying we are posh, but the fact that we were first put in a room with No windows was pretty backward and in the event of a fire, which would have been possible due to some of the wiring in the hotel! was of real concern. We went back to reception and paid an extra £10 to view what they classed as an executive twin, dont be misled as these are just a filthy as the room with no view, the whole place needs a total revamp or knocking down would be possibly more in line with updating. Several people told us that they stop their on a regular basis, why why why. The worst place I have ever stayed, even the rats would not venture in as the place is that much of a disgrace. Be advised, pay more money to a hotel that offers an entrance where you feel your not sticking to the carpets....

Room Tip: Dont stay here

Stayed here at the end of March 2013 for one night. Arrived to a queue of people waiting to check in, the Receptionist was being a bit of a jobsworth as check in was not until 2pm so we all sat around in reception for the 30 minutes until 2pm. Luckily 10 mins into our wait another Receptionist turned up and allowed everyone to check in. As we were travelling with friends we had requested rooms close together, this was not possible for some reason or another so our friends were on a completely different floor to us. As I was travelling with a 3 year old I required use of the lift to negotiate her and carry all of our backage. The first day was fine as one of the lifts was operational, check out day was a different matter as all of the lifts were out of order. The rooms themselves were clean and tidy but very dated. This hotel would benefit from a good refurb as the location is fantastic but the hotel itself was disappointing.

Myself & a friend booked this hotel for a weekend stay in Manchester in August 2012. We stayed for 2 nights & were very pleased with what we got. We booked a twin room for just £15 a night. After booking, we proceeded to read reviews - this wasn't the best idea as there are many reviews that are slating the hotel. However, there was nothing we could fault with our room for the whole stay albeit a short one. Very clean, tea/coffee making facilities, bath, shower, sink, toilet, phone, large mirror in bathroom, large mirrored wardrobe, television, comfortable beds, hairdryer & air conditioning. The room we stayed in was an internal room, therefore there were no windows - but I wouldn't say these are absolutely necessary if you are spending most of your time out in the city. There are plenty of external rooms available though & upon enquiring at the reception desk (purely through interest), it was made clear to me that it was very easy to change rooms. The receptionist also told me that they would be more than happy to do this if it was asked of them. Considering the price we paid to stay here, we were more than happy with the room & the hotel. The reception staff were friendly & helpful. We arrived around an hour too early for check-in, but they accommodated us, checked us into our room & gave us our room cards immediately. On check-in, you can book to have a breakfast in the restaurant for the following morning but we didn't opt for this. No particular reason, it just wasn't something we had planned on for our trip. The lifts do work! Contrary to other reviews I have seen. Either we were very lucky, or people expect far too much from budget hotels nowadays. The location was brilliant, just a short distance from the city centre - literally a 30 second walk to the strip with all the shops. Very close to the buses & trams if you wanted to venture further out. About a 10-15 minute walk from the train station too. All in all, if you are wanting a cheap & clean hotel that is close to the city centre, then this is perfect. If you're wanting a luxury room in a luxury hotel with luxury everything & a luxury price, then I'd look elsewhere.

Don't book an internal room, no windows, aircon doesn't work, felt like we were in Spain in the height of summer, not Manchester in April!! Couldn't breathe....ridiculous!

Rest of the hotel was ok I suppose, but the non breathing aspect kind of ruined it!
