£154 for an 'executive suite'
Grotty wallpaper peeling, musty damp smell, box room with small double bed. Tv unit covered in dust, no air con, very hot, window would not open, could not see out of window as it was that dirty, picture screwed to wall crooked, bathroom grotty, paint peeling, light not working, grout dirty and missing, damp patch in corner, looked more like a bath room in a council house, did not want to shower in it, unfriendly and unhelpful staff, took 2hours and had to ask 5 times for a fan for the room. Bed very lumpy and uncomfortable, noise level from outside very high, no iron and ironing board available in room could not get out quick enoigh in the morning.DO NOT STAY HERE!

Thankfully only had to spend one night here...Hotel looks impressive in a Downton Abbey sort of way, but rooms would benefit from a lick of paint and a good clean! Thankfully room had benefit of double glazing, so noise from outside was muted, and luckily away from Disco, others in group said this went on until around 2am!! ie not a lot of sleep.
This is a very large hotel, mainly catering for Groups, ie there were also 4 other coach loads, 2 hen parties and 1 stag party.............One couple had the unnerving experience of having drunken 'boys' hammering on (mistaken) door at 3am ........they actually rang reception to report that youths wandering corridors disturbing guests, but this did not appear to be followed up by anyone.
Breakfast was a nightmare, no fault to staff on the floor, as they did their best, but anyone of authority, or supposed to be in charge was noticeable by their abscence.
The Coach parties were all due to leave by 9.00 - -9.15 am as all going to same venue.... Suffice it to say that several were still waiting to get into dining room at 9.20....Despite there being another dining room which 'floor staff' were not allowed to open up - Plus you had to weave your way around people having breakfast to get to food .....the wise ones just loaded up with everything in one go...........a few even got friends to make them a sandwich to have on coach!!
RESTAURANT - Best point being that we discovered an excellent Indian Restaurant just about opposite Hotel - a tad pricey, but wonderful food & great service.
TIP 1: We did discover that a couple of coach companies get concessions for using Britannia....we made it very clear to our operator that never to use Britannia chain again.
TIP 2: Use Lift as when going up / down stairs, lighting and pattern on carpet make it difficult to see where step edge ends/starts - several of our older group members found this most disconcerting.

We stayed here for one night because rooms in the city centre were in very short supply due to the Conservative party conference. At £129 for a twin room, it was more than I would like to have paid, and well over the odds for what the room is worth. The service at reception was good and the staff were efficient. Our room on the 4th floor had a double bed and a camp bed, with another camp bed under the double. My overall opinion is that the decor furniture etc is very dated. Having said that, the room was very clean and I slept well. If you get these rooms when on a deal (eg £29 twin room b&B, which is available some Sundays) then go for it, but I wouldn't pay full price. Location is perfect for exploring Manchester.

The day we arrived their computer system was down. They were having to do all checkins manually. Felt sorry for the reception staff.
Some guests which was to include us ,were returning to the desk saying there was people already in the room. We went to our room and there was somebodies luggage in the room.
Reception gave us another room which was one of their best rooms, so no complaints about that. I am sure this was a one off incident.
The breakfast was as good as last time. *****
But the hotel is looking a bit ruff around the edges, its needs a make over.

Booked a single room for one night stay the hotel looks very good on the web page but what a disappointment. In real life the single room was a cupboard with no windows on the sixth floor, should say the attic, lift upto the fifth floor and very slow. could wait 10 minutes for one to come. Because of my room I would rate this hotel as zero star not very clean.
I normally stay at a hotel advertise by a comedian, I wish I stayed there.

Room Tip: Do not have the sixth floor rooms.

The tiny double room we were given had no windows and was a smoking room, it was like sleeping in an ash tray. Very dirty room, stains on the carpet and bedding. We hardly slept as it was hotter than the surface of the sun and all the "AC" did was vibrate the entire room with deafening effect but produce no cool air!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a window and a non-smoking room if you don't smoke.

Terrible service, filthy room, couldnt see through the window it was so dirty, it was a very hot night and the window only opened two inches, requested a fan at 7:30pm was told there wasn't one. Requested again at 12:30am and waited over an hour for it to be brought to the room. Sleep was out of the question due to the noise. The room was filthy, the bed was horrible and the bathroom was no better. Staff were not very accomodating either, i couldnt wait to get home to shower i felt so dirty, tired and irritable by the morning.
I would not reccomend it to anyone.
