Don't understand some of the bad reviews on here at all. Me and my boyfriend came here for our anniversary and I absolutely adored the interior of the hotel.
We were seen to quickly and the room was basic and dated but it was clean and had a homely feel to it with an en suite.
The bar area downstairs was really nice and not too expensive and I enjoyed the breakfast in the morning.
My only complaint is that the music from the clubs very close to the hotel was very loud and on until the early hours of the morning.
Other than that, I loved my stay here.

Good city centre hotel within easy reach of Manchester Piccadilly station and all metro links. Very helpful staff and a comfortable room.

A bit noisy due to Club in basement (we were on 5th floor!!) and an outbreak of hen nights!!!...however stay in a city centre venue on a Saturday night and this has to be expected.

Overall good hotel and would use again.

We stayed at the Britannia Hotel on the 17th Jan. We was looking all over Manchester having not booked anywhere, for a one night stay. Having being told it would be cheaper to book online we did using booking.com. We got a double room for £35 which was brilliant. The hotel itself is massive and very pretty. The rooms are a bit dated but there ok for one nights stay. If you like a hard bed your in your element, we wasn't keen on the hard mattress which affected out bones and muscles the next morning. The bathroom has a handy shower and a few mini toiletries which is useful. I'd recommend they but cheap toothbrushes and mini toothpastes as that's one thing you need in the morning after a night out. Even though we was drunk I was awoken twice by noisy people stopping on the same floor. I'd stay again if out in Manchester it's very handy and right near Piccadilly gardens.

My friend and I visited Manchester to see a show at the Lowry and decided to make a night of it. We were able to get in our room at 11.30 after our arrival by train at Piccadilly. Very helpful at reception.offered us dinner and breakfast but we had decided to set out. The room was an executive twin on the fifth floor. Clean and tidy with a bath for a soak. Two comfortable chairs . Extra pillows and blankets if needed. Beds very comfortable but creaky. The floor was also creaky. Slept well after the soak in the bath. Quiet night. No disruption from other guests. Left at 9am the following morning. Will definitely use this hotel again. Location Central. Short walk to the tram and China town where we ate at night.

Stayed for one night and got it at a very cheap rate including breakfast. I would advise to check the their own web site before you book because it was actually cheaper than the discounted sites. Room was basic but clean and spacious. Location alone is ideal as it is a 2 minute walk from Piccadilly, main shops and Arndale Center. Would definitely recommend.

On entering the hotel, it is very grand and the beautiful staircase gives the place character. However the room was a let down. It was very small, very dated and really needed to be redecorated. There were numerous stains on the ceiling and the wallpaper was peeling off the wall throughout the room. The TV was very old also and only managed to give out blurred pictures of the programmes being shown.

I stayed for a business trip in June and the room was like a shauna, it was impossible to sleep comfortably. I rang reception every ten minutes for over an hour to request a fan but they did not answer, god forbid if there was an actual emergency. So anyone not staying during winter should be prepared for the heat and stuffiness.

The hotel is in a great location with the city centre right on it's doorstep, which is great for shopping or those looking to party, as there is a nightclub below the hotel. It is also very close to numerous train stations.

The Britannia is old. Its very majestic, and one day would of been a true marvel. It reminds me of the film 'The Shining'.
Plus Points:
Location.
Price,
Clean.
Room spacious.
Reception Service

Bad Points:
Breakfast was £10.20 extra, and although it looked OK, it was hideous. Everything tasted as if it had been cooked in the far too old oil.
The Hotel is 'Tired'.
The TV in the room was a 1980's model, and simply didn't work. (I didn't ask to get it sorted out)
The shower was at a fixed height - for a midget.
The Wi-Fi is extremely intermittent.
Noise from Club was loud till early hours.

Room Tip: Like I say - You get what you pay for. I probably WOULD stay here again, but avoid the breakfast. It...
