I booked 2 rooms as an anniversary present for our friends silver wedding as part of a shopping package which included breakfast, a glass of wine each and a £20 Arndale shopping voucher for an unbeliveably low price which was well worth it.
We were fortunate to get upgraded to superior rooms overlooking the city and they really were of the highest quality. The building apparently was an old office block or bank so the rooms are very spacious and well appointed.
The front desk staff were excellent and were genuinely interested in their guests and were really helpful with directions/ information.
The bar prices are a bit on the steep side but the surroundings are very pleasant and are probably worth the extra although you really are only a couple of hundred yards from many bars and restaurants which are probably better value.
The breakfast is excellent with a wide range of hot and cold items with good service from the staff.
Overall the hotel does earn its 4* rating and is really good value compared to some other hotels of a similar rating in Manchester.

Room Tip: The higher floors have great views across the City.

With a central location and a comfortable homely feel, the Renaissance is an excellent place to stay at when visiting manchester.
The rooms are clean. spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast is indeed a treat!
There is indeed slight room for improvement, but it indeed fullfills its four star rating.
Well furnished, comfortable and with an overall friendly staff - this is one place i would highly recommend.

The hotel was a decent quality 4* hotel, centrally located and with a good breakfast.

Only complaint is that despite being an entirely normal group of 20-something year olds, the staff were a little on edge with us (security watching us when we came back for a drink at 11pm and front desk looking at us suspiciously another time). These little things get noticed.

Hello fellow travellers.

Those of you who may have read a previous (not so complimentary) review of this Manchester icon can now add it to your list of possible choices.

It's had a re-furb and a well overdue make-over. Now I'm not going to say it's perfect, but it is far closer to the four star rating it now deserves. The rooms are now modern, clean and well furnished. In addition, the staff are friendlier and much more helpful - they obviously prefer working in a better environment.

So in summary, if you want a hotel a stone's throw from Harvey Nichols and centrally placed for a massive range of restaurants this is the one for you!

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the lifts - they have not been refurbed and are still a bit noisy

Good, standard renaissance fare hotel. Clean and recently renovated. The washroom is above standard as far as UK washrooms go as it also had been recently renovated. The room is also large by UK standards.

I was here for business in late October and it is relatively central about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the Manchester train station.

The one complaint I had is the complimentary WiFi in the lobby never worked on either my phone or laptop and the issue wasn't with the devices.

Stayed for one night. Was a little confused about the parking arrangements; public car park right next door and a private one on the other side. Fortunately when we stopped outside the hotel (be careful double yellows!) a doorman offered to valet park our car in the private car park. I would ask the hotel to make tge parking arrangements clear on their advertising. Fortunately for us we didn't experience a problem. Check in was swift, friendly and efficient. We were given a king sized room. Great size, plenty of storage if you were to stay for a while. The bed was extremely comfortable and the pillows lovely and soft.
A great find which is a personal bug bear was that there were plugs (for hairdryer, etc) next to the mirror and a decent long nosed dryer!
Bar staff were great and made amazing cocktails!
Breakfast was buffet style but food was regularly topped up and was found to be delicious.
Only downside was the wifi. Had to pay for it in your room but was free in the lobby and bar. Have found this in many times with this chain of hotels. Marriott need to take a leaf out of Radisson hotels and make it free in all rooms with easy access. 21st century now!
All in all a good experience.

Dear Dot T,

Thank you for discovering the Renaissance Manchester City Centre Hotel and we are pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us.

We appreciate that the parking arrangements can appear confusing and we do ask on our hotel website that guests collect a swipe card from reception for the car park.

We also have an arrangement with the council regarding the taxi area/double yellow lines out the front of the hotel so that guests can park there without concern whilst colelcting a swipe card.

Thank you again for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back when you are next in Manchester.

Yours sincerely

This hotel truly is in the center of the city. It was quite a mad rush to drop of the car for valet parking because it's such a busy street. If you walk the neighborhood, it's close to a large shopping center, Manchester Cathedral, authentic Italian restaurants, small grocery story. The hotel service was just okay. Our rental car was actually damaged in the parking garage, but without too much argument the hotel agreed to cover the repair. Room was clean. Love the tea and biscuits. We would probably choose a less busy area to stay again with family.
