The Manchester Renaissance City Centre Hotel is a home from home for me now. We have a son in Manchester Uni so this a perfect place to stay when we visit him.
This return visit is our first since their big renovation. It looks even more impressive now. We stayed over the Christmas period and were a mixed party of young and old. The pre-visit assistance from Olivia Heffernan on front of desk was fantastic. She helped me find restaurants in the locality that we could walk to (2 of our party were 85) and also catered for special diets.
The rooms are so spacious with lovely clean bathrooms. The new interior design of the room looks great - very stylish and co-ordinated. One complaint - the chairs in the room look fantastic but are really not nice to sit on for too long. The old comfy sofas may have been past their best and looked a bit shabby but these new ones are sooo uncomfortable.
Breakfast was fine but... no black pudding! As the hotel was very quiet guests had the added bonus of having their breakfast cooked to order rather than the usual buffet for the hot food. Plenty of tea and coffee etc available.
This really is a brilliant place to stay when you visit Manchester - it is so central for the shops, theatres, galleries, canal etc and you are guaranteed a warm Mancunian welcome.More
