“Really good hotel - happy to return”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2014

Myself and my son were in Manchester for the football and this hotel was our treat.
Nice modern, trendy feel to the place, but still relaxed.
Our room was huge by city centre hotel standards and very comfortable. Excellent heating and aircon. Good bathroom and spotlessly clean. Hearty breakfast with loads of fresh fruit. Quiet and peaceful at night with no sounds from the other rooms. The bar and the dining area are one and the same, so not a great atmosphere in the evenings. Staff very helpful, efficient and polite while being relaxed about it. It's a short walk to PIccadilly Gdns, Metro etc etc so location is very central.
This would be an automatic choice for the next time.

Room Tip: I hear there is a free bus from the train station - not sure how to find it though. Be sure to ask w...

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for valentines day and we had such an amazing time. The room was massive and clean with lovely views over the city and everything was on our doorstep. We would definitely stay here again!

Stayed 2 nights at the Renaissance city for business. Really friendly and helpful reception staff and the hotel is also in a great location for a variety of restaurants and shopping. I was here for work so although I could see Harvey Nichols just down the street, never got to sample it! One tip is from Piccadilly station, you can also get very close to this hotel (half block away) on the free metrobus (orange bus) if you don't want to splash out on a cab which otherwise costs just under £8.
One very impressive thing about the Renaissance is the room sizes. I stayed in 2 different rooms, one of which was just supposed to be a standard double but even that room was a very large size for a city centre hotel, with a desk, small couch and table area. Very spacious rooms. Wall to wall windows were also a bonus. One disappointment was the breakfast. Although the fruit buffet and cold meats and pastry selection were very nice, don't bother with the hot food selection which is served as buffet so therefore dried out and overcooked under heat lamps. Order something fresh made like the omelette if you want hot food.
Also, I feel now for all hotels and B&Bs wifi should just be an essential free service like water or heating. You will have to pay at least £10 which I disagree with.
Otherwise, for the location alone and the very spacious rooms at reasonable prices, I would certainly be hard pushed to find a better choice for Manchester unless I chose to splash out on five-star top dollar. I have already booked my room for my next stay.

Perfect location for shopping or sightseeing in Manchester. Might not look much from the outside but don't judge a book by it's cover!
Breakfast was amazing, excellent variety of options and all freshly cooked.
Good size rooms too.

Newly refurbished bedrooms very spacious and nicely furnished. Breakfast good.
The bar is always a little disappointing, perhaps because it opens onto the dining area it doesn't feel welcoming, the TVs are on but no sound, so no atmosphere.

The rooms are well decorated and a good size. The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in, I could have happily stayed in bed all day. The breakfast was really good to. Plenty to eat and excellent coffee.
