My friend had booked this hotel as she was staying there as party of a wedding party. She booked a twin room and paid more for this via a late booking website. However when we got there the main guy at reception was exceptionally rude. The room wasn't ready, he kept repeating in robot fashion, as well as a condescending tone to my friend how there is no twin room available despite her booking. The air conditioning was also not working in the room. There was another wedding going on at the time. I can see he was probably stressed- but his entire manner and tone was highly inappropriate and ruined any excitement or good feeling about the hotel. There is a way to say things but unfortunately he has no idea. In fact he made us feel like an inconvenience and something nasty stuck to his shoe! Despite that, other staff and reception members were quite pleasant. Can't say that the breakfast was very nice or the room was amazing. Other 4 stars near Manchester Airport are amazing compared to this. It appears unless you are a couple or honeymooning for example you are not treated very nicely here.

Dear SoozieSoo1975

I was shocked and surprised to read your comments regarding members of the Reception team here at Etrop Grange. All of the Front of House team were so disappointed to think it may have been one of them that has clearly let you down during your stay.

I would be grateful if you could take the time to contact me directly so that I may investigate further and discuss this with my Front of House Manager. The main Hotel telephone number is 0161 499 0500, or via email noted below.

I look forward to hearing from you.

we were married at Etrop Grange in 2012, and we decided to return the night before an early flight as a treat start to the holiday. We mentioned on check in that we had been married there and we were given a suite (lovely touch). We had dinner which was delicious as always and a bottle of fantastic wine. Many happy memories - thank you Etrop we will be back!!

I purchased the groupon deal... Champagne afternoon tea £17 for two. The champagne was house prosecco... Quite nice I didn't mind as I prefer prosecco anyway. The finger sandwiches were poor, bread tasted stale as though they had been pre prepared and stored. Sandwiches were egg, ham and mustard and a salmon ... You didn't get a choice and I was allergic to fish. The cake offering was very mediocre, one small scone each, lemon Madeira cake and a mini eclair. The cake was delicious. My main bug bear was the dry withered cheese tarts and spicy battered rice spring roll things on the top tear of he serving plate.... This bore no relation to any afternoon tea I have ever had. My advice? Scap it and do some quirkier finger sandwiches on speciality bread!!! Or French macaroons, cheap to make and yummy!

All in all this was an ok deal but we were seated in the corridor and a wedding reception party were right next to us. Not ideal....

What a great little hotel. A couple of minutes from the door to the terminal at Manchester Airport.

We stayed for the first night of our honeymoon before an afternoon flight the next day. We arrived about 6pm and they had upgraded us to a fantastic room with a four poster bed. There was also a bottle of chilled Prosecco waiting for us!

There was also towel art in the form of 2 swans and rose petals on the bed.

When you arrive, a man will carry your bags to your room etc. Great service which you dont get in any modern hotel.

The room was lovely and had a great bed with a bathroom with shower over the bath. The shower was great, very powerful.

The bed was excellent and very comfy, what a great start!

We had some friends join us for dinner and we ate in Wineglass restaurant. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. The bar prices were also good for the standard of the hotel.

There was a wedding on at the hotel at the same time and this didnt detract from our experience at all.

Thanks again Etrop Grange, keep doing what you are doing and we will be back in the future.

Cannot recommend highly enough.

Room Tip: We were in room 31 which had a 4 poster bed.

Very enjoyable afternoon tea with a glass of fizz. The finger sandwiches were delightful, the sponge cake i really enjoyed, although the people at the table near us thought it was dry! you can't please all the people all the time. I particularly liked the fact that they kept bringing us more tea if they noticed the pot was empty. We didn't feel rushed, the service was prompt and friendly Lovely staff, very helpful. Very good value for money x

Dear Sheena T

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our new offering for Afternoon Tea. I am delighted to say it is proving very popular, so it is pleasing to see some great feedback regarding the offer. I do hope you will have the opportunity to return, perhaps for an over-night stay should there be occasion, and I am sure you will again leave satisfied.

stayed here on 7th april for one night before flying to spain for 10 days, we arrived by car and the hotel arranged parking for the ten days. We had a room on the ground floor (I have mobility problems) good sized room, very clean, good sized bed and television. Dinner was excellent (we had the fish & chips) an excellent house wine. In the bar we were greeted by Liam the duty manager who was very helpful. We were taken to the airport in the morning by the courtesy car
by a very helpful driver. On our return a telephone call brought our own car to the arrivals hall within 10 minutes ready for us to drive home. In all a pleasant and relaxing experience, especially if you have mobility problems. We will use it from now on for our trips abroad.

Room Tip: room 3 "Ashley" is next door to the disabled toilets if required

Booked this hotel as we were travelling down from the North East to fly out to Florida on our honeymoon. This hotel is perfect and offered an overnight stay and 15 days parking for little more than what it would have cost us to park elsewhere.
Room was great (4 poster) and they'd put complimentary champagne in the room for our arrival as we'd told them it was our honeymoon.
Ate in the restaurant which was really nice and reasonably priced.
Hotel provided a taxi free to the airport (2mins away) in the morning and brought our car to the airport to pick us up.
Would defiantly stay here again if flying from Manchester.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Etrop Grange is a gracious Grade II listed Georgian Country House originally built in 1780 by school teacher William Moss and although located just a short distance from Manchester Airport, is anything but an airport hotel.Originally known as Moss House, the hotel was renamed Etrop Grange in 1984 by the owners after a local area called Etrop Green. Etrop Grange first opened for business in November 1985 as a fine dining restaurant on just the lower level and was slowly converted into a hotel over the next 13 years with a £3 million refurbishment. The Etrop Grange still retains it's Georgian charm with its stately facade matched by a luxurious interior of decadent chandeliers, heavy drapes and marble fireplaces.Due to modern intervention the hotel is now ideally located just two minutes from Manchester Airport and the M56, and is one of the few hotels in the area with no overhead aircraft noise making it an ideal hotel for business and leisure alike. Offering complimentary transfers to and from the airport and airport railway station (between 06:00 and 22:00), along with complimentary parking and WiFi for all guests, Etrop Grange is the perfect place to spend a relaxing day or night whatever the occasion. ... more   less
