Visited in march for the shopping and trip to the football, the hotel is in a good location and rooms are of normal high standard, we did have a pleasant surprise of a free room upgrade to the cinema room for one of our party which was very nice. However when it came to sleeping there are alot of cushions and pillows on the bed and the pillows are not of a very good quality and resulted in both myself and my partner waking up with very sore necks in the morning. This is the only downfall of this hotel, we have visited other malmaisons and not had this problem and would definatly use this chain again.

I have stayed here a few times now and I cannot fault. The staff are ALL extremely helpful, professional & friendly and we even had a free upgrade while we were shown all the room options. The food is out of this world (dinner & breakfast - superb!). We missed breakfast one day and came 20 mins late, they could not do enough for us - they still served us breakfast (with a smile). Great convenient central location. Highly recommended!!

Stayed here with 5 friends for a long weekend, it was very nice decor, staff really friendly and helpful great location 5 mins from train station, centre and bus stops. Foods was really good. The only 2 things that let it down was the view of nothing but a wall from the bedroom window (but we were in city centre so to be expected) and the fact the people who had stayed in the room before us had clearly smoked in the bathroom and it stank! oh and the lighting in the room seemed dull and when you a girl getting ready for a night out you need light lol would deffo use again!

This is a great place close to everything you need, I was staying here with work. The first night we ate in the hotel and tried out the bar (lots of the bar). We had really great service and the entire place had a good vibe about it. It was interesting as a few local celbs were in the bar, so it must be a bit of a trendy place to go mid-week. The food at the restaurant was top notch, I had a perfectly cooked steak and it was one of the best I have ever had.

I stayed here for the 2nd time with my partner in Feb 10.
The reason i come here is the amazing deal, Stay on a sunday and if u spend £75 in the brasserie you then get the room at a rate of £10. So a meal wine and a room for 2 for £85. Not too bad for a central hotel!
The staff are very friendly also and went out of their way to help me.

Mal Manchester: In the home of the beautiful game you're about to turn Moulin Rouge. A short trundle for wheel-based luggage from Piccadilly Station and you're at the Mal - somewhere in the mists between Paris and the 24-hour party city. You cross the chessboard reception and suddenly you're a king for the knight. It's your move. Smoak Bar and Grill at Mal Manchester: A grill room and bar quite unlike anything Manchester has ever before seen. Set in the award-winning Malmaison Hotel minutes from Piccadilly station, Smoak is total indulgence for the senses. The amazing aroma of nation's finest oak-smoked steaks and fresh fish, served to a pewter counter or cosy booth. Imagine great imported beers, cocktails and bubbly served from an unusual sunken bar, with highly skilled mixologists serving you while you stay seated. Picture a stylish relaxed but chic interior a mix of booths, banquettes and counter stools. Come lunchtime and it's locally sourced bread, generously filled sandwiches and salads or full blown grill dining for the more adventurous lunchtime escapee. Come sundown the mood changes and we turn the aromas up to eleven. The cocktails flow, the steaks sizzle, the music turns up and the night begins. Ember Lounge at Mal Manchester: We could tell you about the Ember Lounge - an immaculate and opulent cocktail bar furtively hidden to the rear of the Smoak Bar & Grill. ... more   less
