“A luxurious hotel, in a prime city location”

This hotel is an excellent establishment - we asked for several extras (champagne cocktails, handmade truffles etc) and they could not have been more helpful. The reception area and restaurant are tastefully decorated, and the rooms are comfortable. Unfortunately our room was located at the back of the hotel, above the loading bay for deliveries. This woke me up at 6am and we were upgraded to a junior suite at the front of the hotel.

Breakfast remains at the forefront of my mind - excellent quality produce. The fresh honeycomb was a welcome touch.

We have just checked out after a 1 night stay, Room very small, even though it was an exec room. Clean, well designed bathroom, lighting not very good though for putting on make up, maybe a light on the mirror would be good??
Nice to see full sports line up on tv in bedroom!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cocktails (altho pricey) were loveleeee!!!
Restaurant was great, food just too good!!!

We have stayed at this hotel about 6/7 times the latest being Christmas. We have always loved it. It is so different to other hotels in decor etc but recently I don't feel it warrants the price. Times are hard for everyone and when you are paying nearly £150 a night it should be amazing. I have always found the rooms incredibly comfy and spacious but I think the staff are getting less and less friendly. The service in the bar is getting slower and slower and no one says hi anymore. It will always be one of my favourite hotels especially as my partner proposed there last time but I think I will shop around the next time we stay in Manchester. :-(

Stayed the other weekend for the Kylie concert, there was three of us in a room and booked direct with Malmaison, they were really accomodating and added a bed in the room for a extra 25 charge, total charge was 149 which I thought was really good value and cheaper than going through another website. The hotel is in a great location, 5 mins from the station and short walk into the middle of town, I've stayed in other Malmaison's and feel they are always of a really high standard, gorgeous decor, really helpful friendly staff, nice toiletries, and comfortable sleep always. It was my first time at the Manchester one and it did not disappoint. I stayed at Velvet last year and preferred this lots more, thoroughly recommend for a night with mates out or romantic night in Manchester.

Reception staff are very friendly. Slight mis hap with the left luggage which took 20 mins to locate. During this time, a blonde receptionist was recommending a guest go to the Lowry Hotel to eat, later I was to find out why!
The twin room, while nice, was small, the beds were next to each other, it was like sleeping in a double with no gap between the two. Not ideal for friends traveling together.
But what really lets the place down is the F&B side, the service is terrible, the food quality was so poor neither of us ate, the salads looked tired and wilted and to be expected to eat soup with a fork is beyond belief. Drink service was equally bad, having to order 3 times to get served.
My friend has stayed here before and often and was stunned at how down hill the place had got, neither will return, back to the Midland for me.

1st trip to Manchester & 1st ever stay at Malmaison. First of all the hotel & all the staff were fantastic from the moment we arrived. The location is 1st class with the town centre only 5 mins walk. Both me & my wife will be telling all our freinds what a great hotel the Malmaison is. Cannot wait to go back!

We love Malmaison!

Even when there is a problem the staff are always happy to help out. Nothing is a problem.

The only thing I would say is that the beds maybe a little firm for most peoples tastes, but just ask for a comforter or 2 to be put on your bed.

If you are a breakfast type, we would recommend the Malmaison breakfast 100%. Fresh juices, porridge, granola, fresh honeycomb, and cooked bfast if you really are hungry. My partner is a huge coffee lover and is always pleased with the coffee at breakfast.

Location is perfect! 2 seconds from picadilley rail station and 10/15 mins stroll to the MEN arena.

We will always stay at Malmaison hotels if there is one in town where we visit!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Mal Manchester: In the home of the beautiful game you're about to turn Moulin Rouge. A short trundle for wheel-based luggage from Piccadilly Station and you're at the Mal - somewhere in the mists between Paris and the 24-hour party city. You cross the chessboard reception and suddenly you're a king for the knight. It's your move. Smoak Bar and Grill at Mal Manchester: A grill room and bar quite unlike anything Manchester has ever before seen. Set in the award-winning Malmaison Hotel minutes from Piccadilly station, Smoak is total indulgence for the senses. The amazing aroma of nation's finest oak-smoked steaks and fresh fish, served to a pewter counter or cosy booth. Imagine great imported beers, cocktails and bubbly served from an unusual sunken bar, with highly skilled mixologists serving you while you stay seated. Picture a stylish relaxed but chic interior a mix of booths, banquettes and counter stools. Come lunchtime and it's locally sourced bread, generously filled sandwiches and salads or full blown grill dining for the more adventurous lunchtime escapee. Come sundown the mood changes and we turn the aromas up to eleven. The cocktails flow, the steaks sizzle, the music turns up and the night begins. Ember Lounge at Mal Manchester: We could tell you about the Ember Lounge - an immaculate and opulent cocktail bar furtively hidden to the rear of the Smoak Bar & Grill. ... more   less
