Stayed on 7th July 2012, in room 232, one night stay with champagne breakfast, we won this as a prize, nice hotel, staff helpful & friendly, lovely designed bedroom & bathroom, with toiletries the towels were large, nice & fluffy, well furnished, excellent blackout curtains, you could hear a pin drop it was that quiet, we were at the back of the hotel in the new part. The bed was superking size, but found the matteress a bit too firm. There`s an iron & ironing broad, safe, kettle, tea&coffee, mini bar, but we found it pricey. There`s air conditioning in the room. Complementary papers, Continental breakfast can be left outside your room on request for the morning. There`s outside seating with a gaint umbrella & massive TV is situated to the main entrance to the hotel. Excellent bar & seating area, the breakfast was lovely we had salmon & scrambled eggs there was plenty of items for a light breakfast ie yogurt, cereals etc. I live & work in Manchester & pass this hotel, so it was a nice to experience an over night stay. Very central next to Manchester Piccadilly Station, trams, Market Street, Piccadilly gardens, China town, Canel Street.

I hadn't stayed at the Malmaison in Manchester for years, but good to see quality & standards are as high as ever. Really warm and welcoming staff, beautifully designed rooms and bathrooms with great high-end toiletries. Fantastic and bountiful breakfast. The only slight downside was the bed, which wasn't very comfortable. Everything else was fantastic though.

My tip is always check the website before booking anywhere else. Rooms fab, bar fab, breakfast to die for. Why go anywhere else?

Having had great experiences with the 'sister' group - Hotel Du Vin - we decided to spend a weekend at the Manchester Malmaison to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We had heard good reports and how the cliental were often 'famous' so we were expecting something grand.

First impressions were contradictory, part of an old facade on a modern building, moulin rouge style red/black decor, very dark and intimate yet an american, wood and metal style restaurant. Perhaps a little more consistency throughout would have been nice.

The rooms, whilst pleasant were not overly impressive (we didn't have a suite) and style triumphed over practicality in many respects. The bathrrom was far too dark to shave properly and all the mirrors in the bedroom (six I think) had lights or lamps right in front of them!

We had a comfortable nights sleep and enjoyed a meal in the Smoak brasserie, staff were excellent and we have no real reason to be too negative, it was just that after the uniqueness and French relaxed style of Hotel du Vin the Malmaison had a lot to live up to!

By the way, the Spa was excellent.

Rooms, location and faciities all excellent.

Ordered continental breakfast in room as on a tight schedule to get to a business meeting. Turned up over 45 minutes late with no apology and when I complained very little interest all round.

I expect better af these prices!

Set in the award-winning Malmaison Hotel minutes from Piccadilly station, Smoak is total indulgence for the senses. Imagine great imported beers, cocktails and bubbly served from an unusual sunken bar, with highly skilled mixologists serving you while you stay seated. Picture a stylish relaxed but chic interior a mix of booths, banquettes and counter stools. Come lunchtime and it's locally sourced bread, generously filled sandwiches and salads or full blown grill dining for the more adventurous lunchtime escapee. Come sundown the mood changes and we turn the aromas up to eleven. The cocktails flow, the steaks sizzle, the music turns up and the night begins.
