“Modern, stylish hotel, city central.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 November 2013

I had an amazing time at this hotel - it is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. It is chic, stylish and very modern - a very plush hotel.
Our bathroom in particular was huge - very clever layout with black and white tiles and marble. The hotel are very generous with toiletries laid out too.
The staff were very friendly and polite and I loved the busy hustle and bustle of the hotel, it adds to be a very exciting atmosphere/ambiance. The cocktails are fab also!
This hotel is City central, and close to shops, restaurants, theatre etc.
The hotel chain itself isn't cheap but by paying that extra, you get so very much for your money.
Would go back to this hotel over and over again - the London Malmaison is just as good.

I've stayed at most of the Mals now and I chose to book this one as a special birthday treat for my friend. This time, I booked a special offer - dinner, bed and breakfast - and chose one of the junior suites, called "the best". Well, it absolutely was the best!

Throughout the suite, the usual black, brown and red of Mal was tastefully used to create a haven way above Piccadilly. Comfy bed, huge plasma tvs (two of them!) and a stunning bath and shower room made it very special.

The dinner choice was excellent - I had risotto and my friend had goulash, the puddings were amazing too - and the service was outstanding. All the staff (reception, bar staff, restaurant staff) were fantastically friendly, warm, outgoing and efficient.

Breakfast was the usual Mal event with an enormous range of fruit, yoghurts, pastries and a fantastic cooked breakfast which we both devoured!

One of the highlights was the relaxed ambience at all times; even when it was really busy on a Friday night, with every table taken, there was a great buzz of life but not overpowering, which made it really relaxing.

The final icing on the cake was to see Bob Geldof and some of the Rats in reception as we were checking out -- they're on tour nationally now.

I would thoroughly recommend Mal Manchester - it's a firm favourite with me. Thank you to all staff there for making our stay very special. x

Room Tip: Fifth floor is the top one, it's really quiet

Just had extremely pleasant stay at Malmaison. Hotel is in a very central location. Nice bathrooms with generous toiletries. Reception staff were delightful. Bedroom had lack of sockets and only 1 bath towel. Would certainly stay again.

I visited the MalMaison in Manchester for an event and stayed overnight in one of their 'Room, dinner and cocktail for 2 for £99'. Rooms were very nice and clean, ordered some ice and robes to the room which were promptly brought up. We were allowed to check out at 12 so no rushing in the morning made for a nice weekend.

The only niggle was the iron in the room was broke which I actually forgot to report as I was in a rush ironing my shirt to go out and there was too big a queue to report it to reception.

If you look online for a decent hotel in Manchester most of the chain hotels look pretty grim. I found Malmaison from a few travel blogs and it looked interesting so gave it a go. If travelling by train as we were the location is excellent - about 5 mins walk from the station. On entering the lobby you are struck by how "non-hotelish" it is - the bar and restaurant snake away to your left and look just like a neighborhood venue - colorful, busy and warm. The restaurant is excellent with its unique Josper Charcoal Grill turning out perfectly cooked steaks. My superior double room was on the 5th floor and was excellent with very large bathroom with walk in shower, nice big high bed and excellent furnishings. A really great nights sleep after a fantastic meal downstairs. My sort of hotel when there is no need to leave!

Set in the award-winning Malmaison Hotel minutes from Piccadilly station, Smoak is total indulgence for the senses. The amazing aroma of nation's finest oak-smoked steaks and fresh fish, served to a pewter counter or cosy booth. Imagine great imported beers, cocktails and bubbly served from an unusual sunken bar, with highly skilled mixologists serving you while you stay seated. Picture a stylish relaxed but chic interior a mix of booths, banquettes and counter stools. Come lunchtime and it's locally sourced bread, generously filled sandwiches and salads or full blown grill dining for the more adventurous lunchtime escapee. Come sundown the mood changes and we turn the aromas up to eleven. The cocktails flow, the steaks sizzle, the music turns up and the night begins.
