The hotel is in a good location in Manchester. The staff are very attentive and the services are good overall. However, the bathroom smells like dirty socks. I don't know it is the whole hotel or just my room (437). The hotel does not have its own gym. But the guests can access a gym 4 mins walk away next to the Opera House.

Dear David L,
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to complete an online review following your recent stay with us here at the hotel.
Delighted to hear that you thought the staff were good and very attentive.
I have passed on your comments to the housekeepr regarding the smell in the bathroom, which we believe was emanating from a shower curtain. We will ensure that we check these more carefully in future.
We hope we have the opportunity of welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.
Kind regards,
Richard

Stayed in this hotel while on a hen party and I can't honestly fault a thing . I was impressed with the decor in the reception and also in the bar area. I loved the exposed brickwork as well , and the rooms were a decent size. Ours had 2 double beds ( only 2of us) which were very comfy, and we also had fab pillows so I had one of the best sleeps I've had!
Breakfast was also very good, excellent choice to suit every palate.
I would love to stay again, we all enjoyed our stay at this hotel and couldn't fault anything!

I stayed in this hotel on my return from Edinburgh. The hotel was well positioned so that a quick walk into the centre of Manchester was easily achieved.

The suite I booked looked promising, in the end part of a long converted warehouse next to a canal. The room was on two floors. The bathroom was small, the shower room upstairs was very small and smelled of sewers. The small sitting room downstairs was well appointed.

All was going well until 11 pm. The walls between the rooms on the upper floor are very thin. As consequence we could hear the conversation of the man in the next door room, to his wife on his mobile. He was angry about his home internet connection and the heated conversation lasted over 30 minutes. We heard everything.

We were settling down to sleep, when the couple in the adjacent room on the other side put their TV on. It blared through the wall keeping us awake. We heard laughter from the room occupants as well as conversation.

At 12:15 am, I decided to ring reception. The noise persisted. After another 20 minutes I went down to reception to complain. He rang the room only to have the phone put down on him when he asked the occupants to turn the TV down. He apologised and exclaimed that there was nothing else he could do. My wife, who remained in the room whilst I was in reception, heard the phone ring in the room next door so loudly that she thought it was ringing in our room. The walls were therefore extremely thin.

I requested a change of room. The night manager promptly ensured that this happened quickly. Sadly, all that was left was a single room with two single beds. At least it was quiet.

Breakfast was ordinary with not very nice orange juice and a poor choice of hot and cold options.

Room Tip: AVOID the suites on two floors in the end section of the building. Very thin walls, everything can b...

Stayed here for one night at a weekend. Hotel upgraded us to a suite which was lovely. More character than many Marriott properties as it's in an old canalside warehouse with wooden beams and lowered ceilings. There was a large wedding on when we stayed but we didn't hear much noise from the function rooms or people in the corridors. Breakfast was comprehensive and decent quality with the added bonus of canal views from the breakfast room. Friendly staff throughout the hotel from what we saw. Car parking is limited though and the adjacent public car park looks not that secure - it might be but doesn't look it. Very few parking spaces at the hotel. We managed to get parked and, if you don't, they will valet park your car but I'd maybe want to check where it goes when they take it away in case it's into the adjacent car park.

We stayed here in April. We arrived and actually we upgraded our room from our original reservation, the room was a suite. It was very nice. It was in a nice location, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were able to walk the entire city and we were close to the train as well. We need not need a cab from the train. The city has a free bus for transport. We would stay here again if we were to come back to Manchester. We loved it!

Room Tip: We upgraded to the suite so we did not see any of the other rooms.

Visited here due to family living locally, we were treated with the uppermost respect at all times.

The service was amazing, what else could you expect from a Marriott!

The Greek guy on reception was fantastic, really attending the everything we needed. We have stopped here twice now in the space of 2 months and each time has been great.

When we visit manchester again this is where we will be staying, breakfast is amazing too!

Rooms were clean and spacious, bathroom clean, reception clean and decor was brill.

A must if visiting the area! Great location too!
