I’ve stayed at the Days Inn on a number of occasions as part of an annual conference, and it’s clear that in the last 12 months things have really gone on the slide.
As I’ve been a previous guest I’m well aware of the small rooms, and that even in cold months they can be stiflingly hot.
However, they’ve always been well maintained and the service in the hotel has always been good.
Sadly, not this year. The room I was staying in looked tired and in need of some TLC (at the very least a lick of paint and some new curtains).
For the entire time I was there one of the lifts was out of service. I could understand this if it were at the Weekend as I could imagine getting a lift engineer is an issue then, but this was mid-week and at no point did it look like anyone was even attempting to work on it.
The room our conference was in, in complete contrast to the rest of the hotel, was freezing cold with the hotel having to deploy fan-heaters to make the space just about usable
Dinner on the final night was a sorry affair, with poor and very rushed service (tea and coffee being served before anyone had got desert).
Everything just had the feel that, as we were a small conference, we were a nuisance that the hotel could do without.
The room was clean, if tired
For a conference everything was in one building, especially as the weather was poor at times
The staff on duty in the restaurant at Breakfast
Staff in the restaurant of an evening
Fabric of the hotel clearly in need of some TLC
