“Excellent Value for a Tenner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 December 2010

Got a deal with the Daily Mirror for £10. Excellent hotel. As others have said, the room was a bit small but when you are there to simply sleep I do not see a problem. Very clean room. Shower and toilet very nice. Good hotel bar with your first drink half price which was a nice touch. Just 5 minutes walk to Chinatown or the "Village". Did not eat or have breakfast but there is a pub next door that opens at 9am for brekkie. Also, you could pop across the road to the Renold Building at the Uni where they do a breakfast (50p per item I think). All in all, nicer than Travelodge where we usually stay, but I could not pay the full room rate which I think was £119

Stayed at the Weston Hall of Residence for 5 days in September 2010. The rooms were okay, cleaned as you request or at reasonable intervals. Location is fair except bus stops are a bit far from it. Internet access is very good except you have to get to the hotel lounge to access it. All staff in the main hotel/conference centre were excellent.

My issue with the facilities is the lack of cooking utensils in an advertised self-catering facility, the kitchens are there with cookers, ovens and microwaves but no single pot or pan to cook anything in. I went for this because I have special dietary needs but unfortunately I had to eat junk throughout my stay, I mean at worst they can ask lodgers to pay a deposit for the pans and refund when you return them on checking out. Also, the staff in the Weston Hall seem to think they owe guests no explanation for anything, when I asked for a pan/pot I was informed in an I care less tone to ask maybe one of the chambermaids will be able to help me with one.

My opinion is very good accommodation, good location, fair price but unfulfilled promises and unmet expectations.

You can't not like this place. It's clean, it's comfortable. It's interesting too - check out the atrium. The rooms are perfectly suitable for the clientele (see my pics). The food is good. After all, if you want designer chic, try the Arora (I did, and I had just as comfortable a time in the Days Hotel). As you will see from previous entries, the friendly, highly competent staff lift the guest experience of this hotel to a level which more prestigious chains must surely envy.
And I only hope the Days management appreciate this factor.

like returning to my studen days. On the information sheet on the desk when you come into your room this hotel tells you it is run by a company which manages student
accomodation. And suddenly it all makes sense. This place entirely resembles student halls. The modern, 'quirky', but quite cheap and rather horrid architecture, the small and tastelessly decorated rooms (sliding fake wood doors to the ensuite etc), and the poor soundproofing. It also doesn't feel like hotel etiquette so have the house keeping come round before half nine and wake everyone up trying to clean their rooms (I know it wasn't just me because of the previously mentioned sound proofing issues)... Manchester is a gem of a place, but if you visit I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Make no mistake - this is a motel that is charging me 5* hotel prices - £129.00 per night and all because of the Labour Party conference I think).
The motel backs on to the university halls of residence so there is a fair amount of noise late into the night (1 AM the latest so far). It is also a part of the Manchester Conference Centre.
Parking is at the University multi storey - £10.00 per day. Access is via the off ramp on (I think) Mancunian Way - the hotel is not well sign posted - look on the left hand side of the road after you exit the flyover for the MCC - that;s where the hotel is.
I haven't eaten here apart from the continental breakfsat - delivered on time - bowl cornflakes, juice, yoghurt, tea, croissant and pastry thing - not sure how much it is! It'sOK.
The hotel is on the University Campus so if you are visiting then it is quite well placed.
Hotel bar - typically conference centre sterile, but there's a student pub just along the road 2 mins walk.
City centre is 5 - 10 mins away so I cannot fault the location.
Oh yes - the staff are very helpful and friendly.
Wifi in the room is OK and free.
I'd recommend this hotel to a friend if they had a motel rate.

Yes was a very small room, but very well appointed and comfortable.
Everything you might need for an overnight stay - tea/coffee tray, hairdryer, extra pillows, iron and full size ironing board .
And 5/10 minutes (ish) walk from Manchester Piccadilly.
Would have no problem staying here again.

£40 for one night room only with £10 parking.
At this price it represented good value, anything more it would have been expensive

Room was nice with decent fittings and finishings, it was small though, bed against the wall. Tiny windoe, not much light

Location is very good 10 mins to Pic Gardens and just off the A57. I would stay here again at the same price only as the location is a strong point.
