Reviewed 12 April 2013

We just stayed for 3 nights at the Mitre which is situatated in an excellent location in the heart of the city. We were in room 32 which is very basic on the top floor.
Reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
NO HOT WATER IN SHOWER MIXER (instant) and dirty bath room. The shower mixer was black with dirt and never cleaned since it was fixed.
There was no toilet paper the first day and not even a toilet paper holder and when ask for, they brought us 5 rolls and placed them on the flushing. The toilet moves when you sit on it.
When we raised the issue of no hot water at the reception they offer us complimentary breakfast for three days. This was English breakfast and was good but unfortunately no ham and cheese and on the last day only one kind of bread (whole meal slice).
Room without table desk and no lamp and however even cobwebs were hanged from the ceiling to the wall

Room Tip: Never recomend this hotel

Went for lunch whilst visiting Manchester.the bar area goes along way through with plenty of tables. Service was fast and friendly again. Children were welcome. Food was well presented and the fish was fab. We will visit again next time in Manchester. Price was what you expect for pub lunch.

First of all id like to say thanks for the laughs. Some very very funny comments regarding the angles of the floors:)))) I had a pleasant enough stay here. bath, shower,tv worked. all lights worked. tea/coffee. Found the staff pleasant and helpful. thought the bar etc was nice enough. great location. loads of cheap overnight parking. The worst thing was the matress, very uncomfortable. The noise of slamming doors and squeeky flooring was bit bad!!! was ok for a night..Just.

We just stayed for 2 nights for a hen party and the Mitre was perfect. Location is excellent and yes, the rooms are basic but for the price you can't complain.
The staff were all so friendly and very accommodating. Special shout outs to Tommo, Debbie and Rob!

Not sure what to say. In terms of positives- Great location and good to go out in the centre of manchester...interesting that this is called a boutique hotel!!nice 'punch holes' in the bathroom door! Carpets with burn holes in and coming away at the walls. If you are just looking for a place to sleep then this is fine...

This is the first time I've had so many negatives with a hotel but first I'll start with the positives. Great location right in the centre and near good shops, clean beds with comfy mattresses, modern decor even though the building it's self is old, breakfast was ok, nice sausages. Staff very friendly.
Now the negatives. Our room had no tv, telephone or toilet/ensuite. When the tv issue was raised, the staff member was surprised and wondered where it had gone to. We were on the top floor so taking the suitcases all the way up the stairs was hard work. The shared toilet was very unpleasant with no heating, shabby showers and marks all down the walls. No paper towels or anything to dry your hands on when you'd been in there. You had to remember to take your room towel in with you...which I forgot to do every time. No mirror in one of the bathrooms. And in our room there was only a small mirror which was miles away from the plug, so hairdryers and straightners didn't reach the mirror.
The curtains were moving around when I woke up because of the draughts through the window.
There was blood on the handrail on the stairs as we went down for breakfast and it was still there as we checked out. Health and safety issue there.
If you just want a place to lay your head with no great expectations..then it's ok. If you want a lovely hotel experience...which you could get at the same price...then book somewhere else.

Had a very unpleasant stay in this poor excuse for a hotel. Room was disgusting, staff were rude...some of the rudest I have ever come across and the food was absolutely shocking! Drinks are also very over priced. The mitre should be paying people to stay there! Don't have a single good thing to say about the place!
