I never write reviews but in this case I just had to.

Just returned from a one night stay. I shared a twin room with my work colleague on the top floor. The bathroom was across the hall, which didn't bother us except it wasn't clean, the shower gels were placed on the side of the sink. I moved them to use but they were stuck to the sink with rust/dirt. Pretty gross.
Our room had stains all over the carpet and walls. The mirror was like the one from the crooked house in Southend you walk towards it and you are slim - you walk away and you become fat!
The room was freezing cold and the duvet was very small. Did not sleep all night due to being woken at 2am by some drunk people outside my room and then again at 4.30am. Eight people decided to have a party outside our door whilst using the bathroom and toliet with the door open! We could hear everything - I had to go outside and say something in the end as this lasted for about 30 minutes.

My colleague had to stay on at this hotel in a different room for another night. A better room with a lovely huge TV that.......you guessed it.... didn't work!

The breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly but that's where it ends. I paid £78 for the room. I've stayed in better hostels!

Just returned from a one night stay at the Mitre Hotel.....for what we paid we thought the hotel was well worth the money. We arrived to a very cheerful and friendly receptionist who quickly checked us in. Nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff even loaning us a hairdryer. The room we had was adequate for our overnight stay clean sheets, towels and lovely and warm. Our full english breakfast was cooked to order and again was lovely. So all in all a pleasant stay and we will definately return to the Mitre Hotel.

This hotel is in a perfect location, literally a stones throw from the train station, shops and bars and great value for money. This is a listed building so the small things such as creaky and slanted floors are jst characteristic, the staff are friendly and the room was clean and had all the things you would need! The only drawback to my stay was the early start- staff in the bar downstairs emptied out the bins ( mainly containing glass by the sounds of it!) at 6:30 in the morning!! Which scared the life out of us and woke up all of us as it went on for around 5 mins with various bins being wheeled in and out!
Apart from that, the stay was enjoyable!

Myself and my friend were looking for a cheap city centre hotel for a night stay in Manchester and this was perfect for us. We were right in the middle of all the places we wanted to visit. The hotel room you got what you paid for, it was basic but adequate and more than enough for a one nights sleep. The bed was comfortable and we had a lovely view from our room. The staff were very nice, especially one of the young receptionists Cassie, she told us everything we needed to know and provided us with hair dryers and irons. Very friendly and polite. Overall I am happy with my stay at the Mitre and would quite happily stay again and recommend to friends.

We arrived on time for check in but had to wait 20 mins to go to our room as they forgot to vacuum it. During our wait in reception an older man who I assume was the manager was shouting at a member off staff because he was unable to work all day Saturday due it looking after his daughter, the older man basically told him to quit if he couldn't work the day which I though was extremely unprofessional especially in front of hotel guests and the receptionist looked embarrassed that this was happening in front of us. We booked a double room and was given a 3 bed room for the same price so that was a nice surprise. The television was huge we certainly weren't expecting a 35" one! The beds were also comfy but that's where the pros about the room end unfortunately. Paper was peeling off the walls, one plug socket had been taken off the wall and just left on the floor next to the kettle ( yes the kettle was on the floor next to a power source!!) the other plug socket was blocked by a bed so we had to pull the bed out to use it, the duvet covers seemed too narrow for the bed and I woke up several times because the cover kept falling off the bed. The shower only ran ice cold water so we had to use the bath which took forever to fill up. The hot water tap on the sink spat the water out in violent outbursts so it was impossible to get a proper wash. Overall our stay was below average but not terrible and I feel the reception staff that I spoke to ( a red headed girl and brown haired man with glasses) are wasted at the hotel they are so friendly and chatty they were the best part of our stay. I recommend this hotel for an overnight stay providing you aren't staying in the hotel for a long time.
