“Relaxing place, great building”

Manchester Buddhist Centre
Reviewed 5 October 2013 via mobile

We did a meditation course and would rate it 10/10, the staff were patient and kind and we looked forward to our weekly meditation. There were a mixture of young and old on our course and I look forward to returning soon. The building is really interesting too, check out the stairs! We haven't tried the cafe yet so can't comment.

i feel there's quite a bad atmosphere at the buddhist centre due to unfriendliness of quite a few receptionists/practitionersworking there. i've been really put me off the centre and off buddhism after this experience.
theres an air of superiority/pretentiousness/snobbishness which is quite embarassing. i thought this was against buddhist principles.i expected a warm friendly place to relax not cold and with a tense atmosphere. i've seen people who work there rowing twice.its really not good for the visitors to see this! Please try meditation!! or better still a sense of humour! :-)

After a fraught trawl of shops and offices, I staggered into the Manchester Buddhist Centre. The idea was to have a quick cup of tea before heading for home. I got this and much, much more; a serene environment, delicious food, healthy options' a place where everything is organic, ethical and most important of all, restful.
I came out of the restaurant feeling calm and invigorated. So, I felt I now had the energy to climb the few steps to the centre per se. What a wonderful place!! The lady who minds the reception and shop is most welcoming but unobtrusive. The selection of books on Buddhism and spirituality was impressive as was the range of meditation related items such as mala beads, incense, prayer flags, cushions, meditation stools and others.
I fully intend to return there time and time again. In fact, Im sure it's addictive!!! But in a very positive way. I think I'll even go on a couple of their meditation courses!

A visit to the Manchester Buddhist Centre is a lovely experience. Walking through the doors into the centre you emmediatley feel that your everyday stresses fall away and be replaced with a feeling of calm as you wonder around. Entering the building you will first stroll around the gift shop with wonderful items at all price ranges.
Then you can visit the Buddhist award winning cafe next door for a range of fare to stimulate the palate and envigorate your senses.
Calm people offering a warm welcome in a world driven by fear is a must for everyone to experience.
