“Great day out”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

The Museum is a fascinating day out. It is so informative and there is something here for everyone. There are Steam engines, Airplanes, and very interesting rooms with the up and coming Manchester

“My very favourite thing in Manchester”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

Very sorry Manchester, but apart from the excellent free city bus service, I can only rave about the Museum of Science & Industry. So well laid out, so informative and those steam engines and reminders of heavy industry - absolutely captivating. It is the most interesting museum in Manchester although I am yet to visit the Football Museum. It's fun for everyone so please go

“great museum”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

Me and my 3yr old went for a couple of hours but will defiantly be returning to explore the rest of the museum. It is a vast area with loads of different exhibits. We took our own food as it was a lovely day outside but there is a cafe if you want to buy food.

“Time Deficit”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

It's a reet grand day out and its free to get in. (Make a donation though) Just ensure you allow plenty time to mooch around and immerse yourself in the exhibits, as there is a vast area to cover. Spent an enjoyable 4 hours yesterday with the kids and still only saw about half of the place. The 4D experience and "Collider" exhibits are chargeable but looked good, only problem we had was lack of time so will visit them next time.

The "Power Hall" stuffed full of old industrial technology was fascinating. Steam train ride was fun albeit a brief but kids loved it. Make sure you seek out the Electricity and Gas exhibits in the 1830 warehouse. Underground Manchester had a spooky recreation of a Victorian sewer that you can walk through, complete with gushing water sounds and flushing toilets! The kids loved the interactive exhibits in the Main Hall (Level 1). Lots of things for them to get their hands on and get involved with. The restaurant and coffee shops seemed busy but prices were what you would expect for a captive market, although you could take your own buttys and eat outside!

NB; There are some roadworks nearby that caused a bit of a traffic jam on Quay Street, but didn't detract from what was an otherwise

“Great Museum”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

In July 2013 I was on a business to Manchester, this museum was just a short walk away from my hotel. I especially enjoyed the airplane exhibit across the street from the main entrance. I recommend spending a full day exploring this museum.
