“Great Value. Great Staff.”
Reviewed 14 April 2012

In Manchester to see MCFC with a group of friends. Only 2.5 miles from stadium. So it was excellent for my purposes. Great value for money, rooms are comfortable & clean. Staff are very friendly & had a very pleasant stay. If you are looking for a budget hotel in Manchester for a couple of nights it's perfect. Will be back.

Very good value for money and have no complaints. Booking in was painless and reception staff very pleasant. Had a good nights sleep and breakfast was well organised too. I did notice a big improvement in the breakfast staff since the last time here in late summer of 2011. Much more helpful. I would recommend this hotel as very good value for money.

Came to Manchester for a night out (which I wouldn't recommend as it's awful) with my other half and some of her friends. Found the hotel online and was easy to find, right on the A57 and next door to Belle Vue greyhound stadium. It's a £12-14 taxi ride from the city centre.
Alarmed as I arrived into the car park as there were 3 police vehicles there, one of which was a Crime Scene Investigation van, it turned out something had happened in a room the night before.
Checking in was easy, the receptionist had all the details, and our rooms on the first floor were of an adequate standard, if not brilliant.
Breakfast was included, and there was a good selection of hot and cold items to have, even if the food was average.
Had a drink in the bar, which was as expensive as you would imagine a hotel bar to be, however the lobby/bar/reception area was extremely short staffed. I saw one guy check in at around 10.30pm and he waited nearly an hour to check in.
Sleep wasn't great either, the beds weren't great and the floorboards and walls seem to be paper-thin because I heard loads of noise from the rooms above, below and adjacent.
Overall, the whole set-up looked like an attempt to set something up like a Premier Inn and although it's decent value and a good attempt, you don't get the same quality of rooms and service, though the breakfast is free. It's a great place to go if you're in a group and you're going to the dogs, as it is literally opposite the greyhound stadium, but I wouldn't go as part of a couple or with family.

Room Tip: Get a room on the top floor if you can; there's no lifts but there won't be as much noise on...

We stayed at Diamand Lodge again as we like to visit Belle Vue Greyhound race track. It is 400 metres from the racetrack
It is very easonably priced and always busy Reception staff are friendly and helpfull as are Bar staff and Staff at a very good Breakfast buffet which sets you up for the day
We usually stay for two nights (£96 for the double room)) and a trip to Manchester city centre is easy by bus outside hotel or a £12 taxi ride.
Would highly recommend his hotel

Room Tip: Probably best on top floor with no one above

Booked last minute through Laterooms the night before for £49 - no problems on arrival hotel staff had all the details. Reception staff are excellent - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. For the money at £25pp you can't really complain - the rooms are reasonable for a cheap overnight stay but would not come here for anything romantic! Room could do with updating and a deep clean. Shower was fine and plenty of clean towels. Lots of safe free car parking available. Nice enough bar area. Dinner available from 6pm but we did not eat there. Tesco Extra 2 minutes away by car. Breakfast quality was average but plenty of it (bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, beans, toast, jusices, cereals, hot drinks etc) but again for the price I am surprised there was breakfast included so cannot complain. We stayed for a night at the dogs and for that it was just fine, probably won't be coming back though.

Room Tip: Has smoking and non-smoking rooms- our 3rd floor was smoking which was not very nice but we did not...

stayed here on 23/01/12 had a double room with a desk flat screen telly so not to bad a couple of bad points and this really rancles me.Water left in the kettle it only takes a second to empty and rinse nice clean sheets and pillow cases but a minging quilt when i pull the sheets back I dont expect to find someone hairs on the bed that said after throwing the quilt off the bed was quite comfortable feather pillows and plenty off them.Bathroom a bit minging mould around the bath and again hairs in the bath loose toilet seat these problems could easily be put right.free parking which is always a bonus.bar restaurant bar quite nice san miguel at £3.95 a pint I suppose is average for Manchester. Restaurant was ok a reasonable menu which included normal starters soup etc mains included sirlion steak which I chose was a bit dissapointed steak looked like it was fried not grilled tomatoe was cooked to death mushrooms same mixed veg looked like it came out of a packet and didn't look good chips mixture of fresh stale and warm ups I just wish these places would just cook aportion of chips for your order then at least they would all look the same. All in all it wasn't as bad as first impressions and at £41.00 was reasonable value for the money by the way you also get a cooked breakfast buffet style which was ok.would i stay ther again I probably would but would speak to the manager about my concerns

Room Tip: not sure any room would make any difference but I always choose a room not on the ground floor
