I needed a hotel near to Manchester city centre as I was attending an awards ceremony in Stockport and then an after party in Manchester and so didn't want to be travelling too far due to taxi fares. It is a little further out than it looks but still convenient.

I travelled on the 14th July with two friends and booked a double room with my boyfriend. The room was a decent size, clean, bathroom was pretty roomy too and again clean, plenty of towels, tea and coffee machine, hairdryer, tv, all very nice.

My only small qualm about the room was the blankets on the bed they were nice and warm but it would have been better if it was a proper quilt. I sat on the bed when we first arrived and was worried by it's firmness but I slept well on it.

The hotel includes a buffet style breakfast as part of your room price and I think we paid £50 for the double so this was brilliant! They had full english, cereals, crossaints, everything, very nice.

Reception staff were very polite and it was 24 hours so that was good to know.

I'd definitely stay here again and would recommend it to people who are going for a night out or business trip in Manchester certainly.

This hotel is convenient for the Etihad Stadium and just about bearable for a one night stay. Our rooms had an awful smell and were very dated. The bath was filthy. Our rooms faced a very busy main road. Windows thankfully were double glazed but with no air con this would be uncomfortable on a hot day. The staff were friendly but they seemed very short staffed - one man running reception and bar for large number of Springsteen fans after event at stadium. The hotel is cheap and includes breakfast. You get what you pay for but no excuse for dirty bathrooms.

Room Tip: Ask for room not facing main road

The only thing that wasn't great was a slight smell in the room when we checked in.

Apart from this the staff were great, the room was clean and for £44 p/n you can't complain.

Our designated room wasn't ready on check in, bang on 2pm, however we were switched to another similar room so the service was great.

The hotel also has good transport into the city. I would stay here again

Used the Diamond Lodge in Manchester for the recent Springsteen concert at the Etihad stadium, great value for money, hotel room was clean and staff very helpful, a good breakfast was also included in the price. Hotel is in a very convenient location being only a short bus ride into the city centre, the peak district is also only a thirty minute drive away. Hotel is easily located by car, just leave the M60 at junction 24 and head for the city centre, it is located a couple of miles along the main road on the left. For the concert we left the car at the hotel and got a taxi to the stadium for less that £10, we then walked back to the hotel afterwards, takes about 30 minutes.
