“A fair and independant alternative in the 'premium/economy' range, with Added Value.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2013

The Diamond Lodge is a privately run 'out of centre' hotel/lodge facility, with plentiful free parking and the advantage of an all inclusive full Breakfast buffet, whilst still at an economy price. Easy access, to the city centre is by a fifteen minute ride by multiple buses that stop outside the venue.
The hotel is showing to be a little tired and needs some freshening up in décor. However, the rooms are comfortable, clean and fully equipped, with more storage space than many of the similar style outlets, as well as room telephones and bathroom accessories. The Bar and Restaurant facilities are more attractive than to be expected in the multiple premier/economy chain outlets.
Very convenient for many of the important sports venues and has all night access for late return from city activities.
The problem is the adjacent main road, which has traffic all night and can spoil a good night's sleep if unfortunate to have a room on that side.
The lack of a Lift can be a difficulty for some visitors.

Room Tip: The rooms with numbers above *20 are away from the main road and should be obtained if possible.

Booked here after a week at the nearby Travelodge which was not impressive!
£3 per day parking, £20 per week for WiFi & £7.65 for very average breakfast.
DL came in at £45 with parking, WiFi and buffet breakfast with a good basic choice.
Restaurant a little dear but good choice and no complaints.
Room adequate for a budget hotel but cleaned perfectly each day. Pleased with my choice.

Room Tip: Belle Vue Stadium side as long as the racing isn't on.

Me, my friend and my mother stayed in the Diamond Lodge for one night before we flew to spain this month (september 2013).
Our flight was early so had to leave the hotel by 4am. Breakfast does not start until 6.30am but the staff were so helpfull and provided us with toast, cereal, fruit, yoghurts, tea and coffee.
This was perfect.
All the staff were so freindly and helpfull, they arranged taxis for us to go to the Arndale centre in the afternoon and gave us plenty of advise of were to eat etc.
The room and clean and comfortable and the cost was really good, I think we paid around £19 each for the night, which ws inclusive of breakfast and parking.
I would certainly stay here again and would reccomend this hotel as an ideal airport hotel for Manchester ( airport about 15-20 mons away)

Just arrived back from the Diamond Lodge from a 1 night stay. There are more good points than bad to be fair.

• bit out the way of the centre but not too bad in a taxi £7 ish
• rooms were fine I suppose really dated & old musty smell but ensuite very clean
• breakfast staff are nicer than the reception staff! They actually made conversation! Breakfast was also very nice choice of continental & hot food
• only really bad point I have to say about the hotel is the reception staff. An older man who must be the night porter told 1 of our group there was no ice! Serious?! At a hotel bar?! To which a lady from reception who'd previously checked us in found a huge bag of it! The night porter then slammed the glass of ice on the bar! The reception lady seemed annoyed & as if we were putting her out when another person from my group asked her for another glass of ice! Granted its a 2* hotel but it's only ice!

Doubt I'd reccomend this for anyone other than a party who are skint!

I have been stolen in this hotel , the lady who cleans our room has stolen our mobiles (two mobiles) and she stole the gifts that I bought to my family , that happened the last night that I had spent in the hotel before I leave in 24 hours , we spoke to the reception but nobody gave us any interest we sat in the hotel for 22 days and the roomservice was checking our bags because we had bought lots of things and gifts to our relatives , that might made her crazy about all the items that we had and bought actually wr coud not realize what we have missed because of the quantity of our things but at the last night when we started to pack our bags we could not find our mobiles and more than 6 items and gifts from our room closet , it is the first time in our life we have been stolen in a hotel such this horrible and dirty hotel cause the service in this hotel was too bad specially in the breakfast room and the bathrooms

It's a travel lodge with a full english buffet thrown in. I wouldn't like to comment on all the rooms but the one we were in had a strong smell of what could only be described as cat wee. The room needs to be better maintained as it was looking very shabby. Many rooms back onto a main road which was busy all night, the emergency services were having a busy night as well. The sandwiches in the vending machine were three days out of date, we left on the 4th and the sell by date was the 1st. On a positive, the staff were very helpful and attentive.

Stayed here for three nights and rooms spacious and clean. Breakfast adequate although the dining area not that appealing.

The staff helpful and attentive.

Negatives:

This 'Motel' is full of tradesmen and hairy *** construction workers, holding the bar up and hanging around the main entrance to the 'motel' smoking and loads of crude and foul language when you pass to enter.

The bar is attached to the main reception and visible with the 'Drinkers' around the bar. I felt uncomfortable walking past the area, certainly not a place i want to bring my teenage daughters to or wife for that matter.

The rooms are so hot and do not cool down so be prepared for a very uncomfortable sleep.

I wont be staying at this particular establishment in the future again, quite frankly its not my cup of tea but might suit others.

Room Tip: Bring a portable fan with you during the summer months.
