“Excellent stay”
Reviewed 11 May 2012

We stayed here for 2 nights mid week whilst attending a Christian Conference at Audacious Church. The welcome from Duane was lovely and he was so helpful with all our questions about the area and transport. The rooms are very relaxing and nicely decorated. The beds are comfortable as well as the linen being top quality. The breakfast was very adequate though we thought the room was too small for a few people to get what they wanted. The choice was : cereals, fruit juice , fruit, toast ,yogurts ,beans sausage and scrambled eggs plus lovely coffee from the machine or tea selection. Amazing value . The location is ideal and there are 2 convenience shops nearby. We could not fault our stay at all and would highly recommend anyone visiting Manchester to give it a go! Well done to all the very friendly and helpful staff.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms will all be good as the hotel is situated in a quiet area.

We stayed just one night on May 4th 2012. It was a very pleasant stay and we could quite easily have stayed another couple of nights. The room was warm and cosy and the bed very comfortable with a good mattress and a choice of firm or soft pillows. The TV was quite large and had all the freeview channels. My husband wanted to watch an important footie match which was shown in the large room next to the reception area and bar, which was handy. The bathroom was superb and far better than any other budget hotel we had stayed in, with a great shower, shower gel and liquid hand soap. A nice large fluffy bath towel each and one hand towel, also an efficient hair drier and full length mirror. A nice touch - if you had forgotten anything, they would supply it complimentary ie toothbrush, shampoo, ladies things, comb! The hotel doesn't have a car park, but we found a Euro Car Park, 3 minutes walk away and the charge was only £4.80 for 24 hrs. We didn't have enough change, so we rang a number and they took credit card payment. Parking in the printworks would have been £15.50 for 24 hours, so a good saving there.
The only negative was the choice of hot breakfast food. They only offer baked beans, scrambled egg and sausages. All of which were poor quality and over cooked, with little or no flavour. However, the choice of fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, croissants, pain au chocolat and toast & preserves was good and there was juice and hot beverages on offer too. The location was great, we were only a short walk away from the Printworks, MEN and Selfridges, Harvey Nichols etc. We would rate it 9 out of 10 and will return.

Room Tip: We arrived before 2pm, they had plenty of rooms already serviced and were able to check in straight...

We chose this as it was one of the rare hotels in Manchester that allowed 3 in a room. For a new hotel,it was decent, location was great as it's just a short walk to the shopping areas and where you can find public transport and eats easily. Room doesn't seem to be designed for a sofa bed which blocked walking space but we were impressed by the ultra modern light saving bathroom. HOWEVER, the breakfast was truly atrocious for a hotel of its standing - it's not budget btw, it was the most expensive hotel on our 5-city European trip - the buffet offering was not unlike a factory canteen with people having to queue through a small room, items were hardly tasty, and when they ran out, were not replenished fast enough. A great shame to an otherwise adequate place.

Thank you for the feedback on your stay I am sorry that the breakfast was not of a good standard , we are aware that the space is limited and we are looking at alternatives. I am surprised that you found the hotel to be the most expensive because as you can see from the previous reviews we are priced very competively for the Manchester market. I am pleased that you find that our central location suited your needs and we hope that you will reconsider us on your next visit

Stayed here for a Thurs, Fri and Saturday night as we were attending an event at the men. We were on the 8th floor.

Good points

spotlessly clean
comfortable bed
nice shower
Ten mins walk to the men
short walk to the Arndale shopping center.
5 mins walk to shude hill tram stop.
Reasonably quiet, there was a bit of talking on the corridors on the Saturday night early on but noone woke us.

Bad points
Not really anything to mention other than the breakfast. Its totally ridiculous.
There's a large area to eat but to get the food you have to queue to go throught smallest room where there is no where to put your tray and no room to move.
It was Chaos!
On the Sunday morning we decide to miss breakfast as the queue was so long it would have taken hours as it's not like the breakfast is worth the wait either!

Recommendations
The shopping center is the best I have found!
There are loads of restaurants around the hotel and in the print works nearby.
The comedy store down at deansgate does really nice food but the comedy we saw was a bit hit and miss. Its right below the deansgate -castlefield tram station and a taxi is about a fiver!

I started staying at this hotel in preference to the Crowne Plaza, which is next door. The rooms are adequate, the shower is pleasingly huge and it is much quieter than the Crowne Plaza. The breakfast is OK - especially for free - and the internet is complimentary for Priority Club members.
The only downside is that you can't just park outside for a minute to drop off your cases as it is on a side street.
Otherwise the price is excellent and I feel more comfortable staying here as a solo female traveller than in the Crowne Plaza, which has dark gloomy corridors and rooms. This makes a pleasant change.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor.

I was really pleased to read your feedback and am happy that you choose to stay with us during your time in Manchester. Unfortunately the drop off point we intend using for our residents is not marked so other local residents and visitors use this space occasionally however we are hoping that this will be resolved with clear road markings shortly.
