I stayed at this Travelodge for two nights in early July 2013.
I was on foot and walked to the hotel from the city centre, it's a 10-15min walk depending on your speed and easily accessible, a block or so outside the city inner ring road.

Staff were welcoming, I opted not to use the auto-checkin as someone was available to serve me as I walked in. Checkout was trouble-free.

Room was a good modern standard, comfortable bed, clean, and a modern ensuite shower/toilet.

It was just possible to leave the room window open overnight for ventilation (it was very warm at the time) without being disturbed by traffic noise.

I didn't use the bar/restaurant, it's near enough to walk to the city centre for a wider range of food and drinks. If you want a better value option for breakfast the JD Wetherspoon pub on Deansgate opens early for breakfast.

Stayed here for one night to see Rihanna in concert. Cost £39 for a family room (there was 3 of us). Hotel was ideal location for MEN (3-4 min walk) Victoria train station also close by, approx. 10 - 15 min walk to deansgate. Hotel its self was clean, modern and looked newly refurbished, our room was spacious and the small single bed already made up for us. Was ideal for what we wanted it for, basically a bed for the night and the late check out (12 noon) was great esp if you have a few drinks the night before.

My sat-nav wanted me to go down a closed road and turn right when I wasn't allowed - but after that the tower-block style building with the Travelodge logo came into view. It was very late - we had traveled for 6 hours plus and wanted to get straight to bed. Automated check-in (first time I had encountered it) was quick and easy. The room was clean, well-ventilated and had sofabed made up. The double bed was a new higher design (very comfortable) with 2 pillows each. Nice clean bathroom - reasonable towels (1 was a bit worn). Kettle, mugs and plenty of tea and coffee for a short visit. If staying for a short night (after ?6pm and leave before 8am) free parking may be found in the neighbouring street(s)

There is some confusion with taxi drivers because there 2 Travelodges with very similar names in Manchester. One is the Travelodge Central and the other is the Travelodge Central Arena. I stayed at the TL Central Arena and found its location at the end of Deansgate excellent since this is only a few minutes walk from downtown. The rooms are very simplistic which is ok if you're just staying for a couple of days. The building is very well maintained, the staff are mostly warm and welcoming though clearly short-staffed during peak times or when handling groups checking in. The availability of only a full English breakfast is a pricey choice if one is only after some toast and coffee. Restaurant choice somewhat limited and servings could be more abundant but good and quite tasty. Ability to charge expenses/purchases to the room would make things much more convenient. The electronic keys need to be checked out as they seem to require very frequent re-validation.

Service by Travelodge staff was reasonable.
Room was big, tidy, well presented, bed was comfy as were the pillows, room temperature great! Bathroom was clean and tidy albeit a bit small
Location was approx 10-15mins maximum walk to the city centre and railway station.
Best thing I liked about my stay here was the room, bed, room temperature
Least thing i liked was that you could hear a bit of traffic, breakfast was not included and no car park.
I would recommend this hotel if you are staying for a night.

Stayed here for a conference, very well placed. The room was small but very clean. Breakfast was excellent, limited hot options but all cooked really well. The coffee machine was a great addition! Soundproofing in the rooms left something to be desired, as we were woken at 5am by next door returning & continuing their party. Overall a significant improvement on the old style travelodge, though still very much a budget option.

I've stayed in many Travelodge's before and this has to be the best one I have stopped in. Having booked to see the Pet Shop Boys and flying off to Tenerife the following day, we couldn't go wrong when we got a room for £20.
As we had cases, we were dropped off before 3pm - there is a small side street next to the hotel where we did this so didn't need to go into the car park next door and pay. As we were early, we bought a drink from the bar but then staff started checking people in at 2.40pm (bonus).
We had a double room booked on the 4th floor - no problems with the room which was bright and airy. The bathroom was a bit on the small side with a walk in shower but it did the business. Each floor has a wing named after artists/groups which I thought was good and the hotel was in a perfect location next door to the arena and easy access to the centre of Manchester.
Used the bar again after the concert and drinks seemed reasonably priced. Breakfast the next morning was also in the bar area.
I would definitely stay here again next time I needed a hotel in Manchester.
